"Vero Amore" is a delightful passito dessert wine crafted from Sangiovese grapes by Chiorri winery in Umbria. This uniquely luscious wine strikes a perfect balance between sweetness and refreshing acidity, making it an ideal match for desserts like fruit cakes and Christmas pies. It also makes for a wonderful gift.
Handpicked in the second week of October, the grapes are sun-dried to concentrate their flavors. This variety has a long history in the Trento area, particularly in the province's northern regions, with grapes sourced from the hillsides surrounding Trento. At the winery, the grapes undergo a brief maceration before being crushed and fermented with inoculated yeasts. During fermentation, regular pump-overs facilitate the extraction of color and soft tannins. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for about six months, partially in stainless steel tanks and partially in French oak barriques, before being bottled in the summer and further aging in the bottle before release.
The wine exhibits an intense ruby color and a fruity nose with notes of red berries, a hint of violet, light spices, and a delicate touch of vanilla from the oak aging.
