Lismore Stores and Post Office as a Community Enterprise - JustGiving

01/10/2023

Good evening, as you are all aware the community will be taking ownership of the Shop and Post Office going forward. With this in mind, and to ensure a smooth transition, we have taken the decision to close all credit accounts. The transfer of the business will be happening towards the end of this month and we need to ensure all accounts are settled before the take over.

If you have an account with a balance, please pop in and settle up in the coming days and weeks. If you are unsure, ask in store and Roxanne or Bob can double check for you.

Similarly if you have an account with a credit balance, we will have this refunded to you.

Thank you for your continued support during this time of transition.

Our very own Roxanne Prando is ‘maker of the month’ at Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds. You can purchase some of Roxanne’s soaps and body butter in store.

Hello all, if you are in today, you will notice that although we did a stock run there are still several of our staple products missing. There was an issue with the actual order, and as it was me who made up the order and Rob who collected it, he didn’t know that there was anything missing until it was too late. I will collect the rest of it on Monday.

Sorry folks, there will be no Gigha milk available in the shop from today. The returned bottles aren’t being cleaned out well enough, therefore their driver is unwilling to take them and as a result they have made the decision to stop supplying us.

Hello all, I’m afraid re-stocking this week has been a bit of a challenge, I have managed to catch myself a summer cold/fluey thing. Between the high temperature and the achy muscles, I haven’t been able to pack the pickup.

The main order will be collected on Saturday morning, and I’ll try and collect what I can carry over tomorrow. I know it isn’t ideal.

Sorry folks, it looks like our expected order will not be arriving today after all. I can’t even pick up the frozen items, as I can’t be sure whether I will get over this afternoon. The joys of Island living 🤯.

An excellent way to explore our lovely island.

We were lucky enough to have Eilidh working with us during the winter time. Now she is back on her bike at the helm of Lismore Bike Hire, with her sister Kara.

02/05/2023

Hello all, just to let you know, our wonderful staff will be having a well earned day off on Monday 8th May, therefore Lismore Stores will be closed.

25/04/2023

As many will know, we have a planned powercut on the island on Thursday 27th April. Although the shop will remain open (albeit with limited service), the Post Office will be unable to operate, and will be closed for the duration.

Please note, we will be able to accept cash only.

As many of you know, I have been back in the classroom for some time, and I have been juggling both running the shop and teaching, with some success and a huge amount of support. However I can't help but feel that the people of Lismore deserve to have someone who is in a position to give the shop and Post Office their all, and unfortunately due to family commitments that can no longer be me. I have taken the decision to return to the classroom on a full time basis permanently. The link below will take you to our shop brochure, giving details of what is included in the sale of this wonderful business.

Thank you all for your support and understanding.

Due to tidal restrictions, our mail and papers won’t be in until after the midday boat.

06/03/2023

Good morning folks. it looks like another lovely day. A few bits of news for you all.

Although the fruit and veg came in on Friday, our main stock order will be in tonight, ready for tomorrow.

Roxanne MacColl is starting with us today, she will be in Mondays - Wednesdays and Eilidh Willis will still be with us on Thursdays and Fridays, I will be in on Saturdays. Rachel MacCormick will also pop in from time to time to help out when she can.

Next month it will be all change again, when we will lose Eilidh to the bike hire, as much as we hate to lose her, we wish Lismore Bike hire a very busy and successful season. Bob will be back in April too, and I will be in for a few days in the Easter holidays and some Saturdays.

Team Lismore Stores appreciate your support.

Once again weather, tides and technical issues have foiled our restocking attempts. We are working hard to rejig things and come up with a solution. I am hopeful that we will be restocked on Monday, though I will let you all know.

Ah the joys of island living!!

Myself and my trusty sidekick Isabella are just home. Freezers restocked, ice cream and meat excepted (this will follow on Friday as promised).

Fruit and veg should be off the morning boat, however I’ll let you know when I know for certain that it’s on the boat. All going well Eilidh will be closing between 9.40 and 10.15 to collect the order.

Rob has taken Friday afternoon off work to collect the cash and carry order, which will be on the shelves ready for Saturday.

Can I also just shout out to Jenny for stepping into the breach yesterday with pretty much no notice.

Thank you for all the offers of help, especially when the chips are down as opposed to being in the freezer where they belong!! You guys are the best.

Good morning all, just a wee update for you. This week we are having a bit of a logistical nightmare restocking. Tidal restrictions are making it impossible for me to get to work and to the cash and carry. The intention had been to do a full restock yesterday, but I couldn’t get the car back out this morning as the early ferry has been cancelled, so had to scrap that idea.

I can get a fruit and veg order put on the ferry tomorrow morning, however that will depend on someone being able to collect it (which I am working on). The frozen convenience food will be restocked tonight, ready for tomorrow. Our butcher order will be in on Friday afternoon and everything else will be in on Friday night.

We are aware that this is not ideal, however please rest assured, I am doing what I can.

Good morning delightful residents of Lismore.

It seems that somebody may have accidentally forgotten to put the mail van on the ferry, therefore there is currently no mail or papers. We are hopeful that at least the mail will arrive on the mid day boat, watch this space!!

06/01/2023

Yet again, there has been no papers delivered this morning, are any of us surprised? However I’m sure you will all be glad to hear that I am back with my delightful humour and customer service for the next couple of days🤣.

Cheers Katie x

Nobody will be surprised to hear that our papers have not arrived.

On the flip side, you will no doubt be thrilled to experience my quick wit and impeccable customer service until 12.00 or there abouts 🤣🤣🤣.

Just incase anyone has run out, there are a couple of bottles of semi skimmed milk sitting outside in the shop. They are dated tomorrow, feel free to take them if you need them x

23/12/2022

Hello all, as you may be aware the supply of gas has been a bit of a challenge of late. The logistics involved in getting gas over and up to the shop are really quite difficult for me, firstly because I am not physically able to load and unload the cylinders and secondly because I need some notice to make arrangements to collect, and our supplier often delivers at short notice.

In the interests of ensuring that demand can be met, and a regular supply can come over, we have asked South Achinduin Fuels to take over the supply of gas for the Island. The next gas order is coming over between Christmas and New Year. We will be passing over details of all pre orders to Robert.

Many Thanks

Laura

Unfortunately, once again we will not be getting our stock over. I have tried to rebook for tomorrow to no avail. We cannot get our stock in before Christmas now.

I’ll get over as soon as possible after Christmas and we will hopefully be fully restocked between Christmas and new year.

Sorry folks

Unfortunately it seems we will not be collecting our stock this afternoon, the 1715 ferry has now been cancelled. We will reschedule our collection for Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience.

11/11/2022

Unfortunately due to ferry cancellations, our fresh stock won’t be in until Monday.

07/11/2022

Hi folks, sorry it has been a wee while. We have had a bit of a run of bad luck in the shop, between the coffee machine taking some time off, the freezer defrosting and the lights shorting the whole shebang!!! Hopefully all will be back up and running properly in the next fortnight. At the moment the lighting is our most pressing issue, unfortunately all the light fittings need to be replaced, (when we tried putting in new bulbs something is tripping the whole system). I promise you won’t have to put up with the darkness much longer. Our meat freezer will hopefully be back up and running this week too.

I’m sure you have all missed me moving everything around and keeping things confusing 😝. I’ll be in on Saturday to see what I can move around next, make some plans for Christmas decs and catch up with the craic.

See you Saturday
Laura xx
