While Top Gun’s pilots were thrilling us on screen, Tony was winging his way to New Zealand. There, he was blown away by the quality of Ernie and Jane Hunter’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. ✈️
Tony recalls, “I’d never tasted anything so explosively aromatic, fresh and fruity – a Eureka moment”. We debuted the Hunter’s Sauvignon Blanc at the London Vintage Festival in 1986 and it’s been a big hit ever since.

Happy International Tempranillo Day! A grape beloved to the Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions of Spain, Tempranillo thrives in chalky soils and tends to ripen early. It is also known as Tinto Roriz or Aragonez in Portugal or as Cencibel or Tinto Fino in other parts of Spain. Varietal expressions of Tempranillo tend to display flavours of plum and strawberries but it is often oaked for Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva Riojas or Ribera del Dueros which will lend oaky, vanilla and cedar box flavours to the wine.
