🇮🇹 From the lush vineyards in North East Italy, The Prosecco DOC denomination encompasses 4 provinces in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste, and Udine), and 5 provinces in Veneto (Belluno, Padua, Treviso, Venice, Vicenza).
🌟 World-renowned, this prolific wine region boasts 11,460 vineyards and 1,192 wineries all contributing to one of Italy's most iconic wine exports.
🍇 The heart of Prosecco lies in the Glera grape variety, native to North East Italy and celebrated since Roman times. Traditionally, it's combined with up to 15% of other grapes like Verdiso, Bianchetta Trevigiana, Perera, Glera lunga, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot Nero, vinified off the skins.
🤓 Fun fact: The word 'Prosecco' dates back to the mid-thirteenth century, with variations like 'Prosech' or 'Prosecum,' referring to a small town near the Trieste and Duino.
