We’ve gone BIG for our last Beer of 2020, with a huge collaboration between Villages and Drop Project Brewing Co for a hefty 8% DIPA. Heavily hopped with Talus, Simcoe, and Mosaic for a hazy finish, silky smooth mouthfeel and bursting tropical flavours of citrus and coconut (bonus points for the feline friendly name! 🐱-Kristie)

It’s safe to say New Bristol Brewery have had a very big year, and it would have been far too easy for us to pick their award-winning Cinder Toffee Stout for our Best of 2020 round up. But instead we want to give some attention to a beer that took us completely by surprise, their 5% Vanilla Infused IPA. Fuelled with Citra, Melba and Equinox hops for a finish that’s seriously creamy and full of flavour, but still easily seasonable. One of those beers that once you’ve had a sip you just can’t put down.

Today’s Beer of 2020 comes from Radio City Beer Works, who brewed an American Pale Ale with a difference. Cool To Be Kind is brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops to create a balanced and refreshing amber finish with a blend of soft fruit flavours and a pleasing bitterness. And the best bit… 20% of all profits went to local Charity ‘ COOL TO BE KIND’ who work hard to support the homeless community throughout Chelmsford and the South East. Today’s beer of 2020 is @PlayBrewCo’s Chocolate and Honeycomb Birthday Cake Stout! This gorgeously sweet beer was brewed to celebrate the Play Brews first birthday, and boy were we celebrating when we tried it. Literally cake in a beer, our bar tender Kristie credits this with being the beer that converted him into the proud stout drinker that he is today. Brewed for a super limited run but we’ve got our fingers crossed to see more of this one in 2021!

Today’s beer of 2020 had to be a Christmassy one, and who better than Brew York with the 2020 edition of Fairytale of Brew York, the annual Christmas stout which this year was nuttier than ever! A combination of Peanut, Pecan, Maple Syrup and Vanilla would get even the grumpiest of scrooges in festive feels and took our tap room by storm when we first tried it back in October.
