When you assess a wine you look for three components - primary (fruit), secondary (winemaking influence) and tertiary (bottle age)…. Rioja is a harmonious marriage of all three!
This Rioja is packed with gorgeous bramble fruit from the cracking 2015 vintage and infused with signature notes of brown sugar spice, clove and mocha from a long maturation in both French and American oak barrels, once transferred to bottle it’s been hanging out, softening tannins and gaining complex notes of to***co and dried fruit!

💚Albariño is a white Spanish grape that creates, in our opinion, one of the most underrated wines in the entire world (in our opinion).
💚Albariño hails from the Rias Baixas region of Northern Spain 🇪🇸 where proximity to the cooling influences 🌬rolling in from the Atlantic Ocean give a uniquely saline profile that other wines often try to imitate, but rarely replicate .
💚The grapes for this wine grow just 1km from the sea, resulting in a delicious saline character that is the calling card of this wine style.
💚Expect fresh stone fruit 🍑and citrus peel 🍋 on the nose is complemented with a creamy texture, vibrant acidity and a superbly salty, oyster shell 🐚 note on the finish which is lip smacking and utterly moreish.

👉Curiosity often leads us in unexpected directions, in this case the lesser known Spanish region of Manchuela where this little gem hails from. Perhaps not most renowned of the countries regions but that’s what makes this such a steal!
👉This cracking value, small batch, un-filtered old vine Macabeo is grown at over 700m above sea level, the diurnal temperature variation is marked and results in grapes with vibrant freshness and vivid flavour, whilst the continental climate brings cold winters, hot summers, and uniquely expressive fruit which is harnessed in all its unfiltered glory!
😋Expect bags of personality, lifted, orange blossom, ripe peachy goodness and tropical fruit aromas, followed by zingy citrus acidity and textural quality to the palate.

England and Pinot Gris may not be two things that you have ever thought of together before but this is a lovely surprise especially if you are looking for a low alcohol alternative…clocking in at 11.5% (naturally).
In amongst all the excitement of the UK’s sparkling wines, plenty of producers have been quietly beavering away on other projects – and it just so happens that Pinot Gris (a.k.a. Pinot Grigio) loves to grow in the soils of England’s green and pleasant land 🌿
This is bright, fresh and super quaffable! That gorgeous colour 🧡comes from the wines having spent some time in contact with the grape skins during fermentation; the nose has vibrant notes of nectarine, green citrus and fennel, whilst the palate is bursting with fresh stone fruit and a taut, pithy texture with a touch of ginger spice.

🚩Supermarkets need volume & low prices -> Enter big branded Aussie Bulk Wine.
🚩Slap a Kangaroo on the label (not super original), sell it for £6 and you’ve got yourself a super brand.
🚩Unfortunately, these big bulk brands did some damage along the way…. cementing a stereotype of what to ‘expect from an Aussie wine’ in the consumers mind.
🚩When wine drinkers grew board of sweet(ish), jammy Shiraz or oak-chip laden Chardonnay they decide it’s time to jump to greener pastures, unaware that there is SO MUCH MORE to Aussie wine then these mass-produced super brands.
👉We don’t play favourites BUT if we did Australia would be a strong contender….the sheer amount of new wave passion for the craft, bold innovation, experimentation with new grapes and winemaking techniques combined with a jackpot of naturally blessed & varying terroir make Australia a super power for down right delicious wines.

Wildeberg itself is a tiny wine farm clinging to the mountains above Franschoek, and every effort is made to ensure that the wines made here capture the simple beauty of this amazing place 💚
Very old bush vines offer up low yields of grapes that are amazingly intense and concentrated in flavour, gently hand-picked and vinified as simply as possible in order to preserve this wonderful character.
Expect aromas of orange blossom, nectarine and honeysuckle followed on the palate by unctuous blood orange and lemon zest with a steady seam of textured, granite minerality giving a refreshing lift and the perfect hit of lovely toast oak.

We hear this all the time at tastings 😂 so as summer approaches let us lift the veil on this one! 👎 💡SO what is Orange wine? 🧡It may sound like new ‘fad’ but in fact it represents the grassroots of traditional winemaking! Let us break it down for you… 🧡Wine is made from grapes (do we still have you 😉). Grapes have skins and then the juicy inside part is called the ‘pulp’. 🧡When you pick up a glass of deeply coloured ‘red wine’ that inky hue comes from the pigment in the SKINS. 🧡White wines are near colourless because when the grapes are picked they are quickly pressed and the juice is removed from the skins to keep them clear and bright! 🧡SO what happens when you let the pulp/juice hang out with the grape skins for a little while (the same way that a red wine does)? 🧡VOILA you guessed it! The wine takes on an orange hue and a whole new array of flavours and you get an ‘orange wine’. 😋What does it taste like? 👉The grape skins and typically ‘lower intervention’ winemaking give these wine a whole new array of flavours! 👉Ironically you will often get flavours of orange peel🍊, spice🌶, honey 🍯 and nutty 🌰notes! 🍽These wines are truly amazing food pairings especially with flavour packed Thai dishes, wash rind cheese and charcuterie! Today we’re shedding a little light on the reality of UK wine pricing AND why spending a few more pounds (especially at the sub £10 mark) is going to pay off massively in quality! Hear us out...! You’ll be glad you did 😉 Let’s look at a £8.00 bottle of wine. 🍷 The UK taxes wine VERY HIGH, as in every bottle is subject to £2.67 of duty plus 20% VAT - SO automatically if you spend under £8.00 on a bottle of wine….more than HALF of that is tax (yikes) At £8.00 on the shelf a shocking £4.07 of that bottle is just tax (not the value of what’s inside)……😲 🍷 But wait, we still have to factor in logistics, packaging and the retailer’s margin etc..... you can see where this is going.... 🍷 The reality is at this price point there is extraordinarily little left for what you are drinking - in this scenario we’re talking UNDER £2.00 for what’s inside the bottle (in the case of a £5.00 bottle we’re talking under 0.50p). 🍷 Good news is - many of these costs are fixed (i.e duty) which means as you go up in price you get greater value for your money in terms of the proportion that is being spent on the actual wine you are drinking. 👍 🍷 This does not mean that you have to break the bank, but if you do decide to go up a couple pounds (especially under the £10 mark), you’re getting a heck of a lot more quality inside the bottle! On the one hand you have the bright lip puckering citrus and on the other that powdering of sweet sugar. 🍷We recommend a wine that is equally as vivacious and zesty as with a bit of sweetness to match such as an off-dry German Riesling or a slightly sweeter style of Prosecco. 2️⃣🥞All American Pancakes with crispy bacon and lots of Maple Syrup This decadent stack of pancakes marries the rich sweetness of maple syrup with the bold salty flavour of crispy bacon. 🍷We recommend a wine that has some residual sugar to stand up to that decadent sweetness and enough acidity to cleanse your palate between sips such as a sweeter style of Champagne (Demi-Sec) or an off-dry Vouvray! 3️⃣🥞Nutella and fresh berry pancakes This combination calls out for a bold wine to match up to the rich chocolatey goodness of nutella but the dish is also tempered by the bright tartness of fresh berries which allows us to experiment with a red wine! 🍷We recommend a red that naturally has a bit of sweetness such as an Appasimento style Primitivo or a Valpolicella Ripasso. 4️⃣🥞Savory Cheese and Ham Pancakes Pancakes don't have to be sweet!
