ME & THE DEVIL - Rye Pale Ale - 5.2%

Light-medium bodied and an easy drinking. Aromas of honey, peach and grapefruit, with citrus fruit notes with a dry, bitter, peppery finish. 20% rye adds a layer of spice to the beer.

Maxlrainer Schloss Weisse

Schlossbrauerei Maxlrain brews the Schloss Weisse according to a traditional recipe; the beer retains a much darker color, in much the same manner as it was brewed centuries ago. Schloss Weisse receives its fresh, distinctive, full-bodied taste through a brewing process using selected roasted malt, fine aromatic hops as well as the pure Maxlrainer water. Brewed according to Bavarian brewery regulations, Schloss Weisse reveals its premium quality in its unique, reclosable bottles.

It’s now “en vogue“ again – the popular Maxlrain SCHLOSS TRUNK. Well into the late nineteenth century the Bavarians traditionally brewed darker ale. Handed down from generation to generation, the ancient recipe for this bottom-fermented beer is now experiencing a grand comeback. Instantly recognizable by its amber tone combined with a quaint “olde worlde” malty aroma and harmonious full-bodied taste, this unfiltered MAXLRAIN speciality in the good old swing-top closure bottle is enough to make the heart of any beer aesthete beat faster.

Double / Imperial IPA 8%

Juicy Double IPA with Simcoe, Azacca and El Dorado Hops.This DIPA is packed full of lovely juicy hops! DIPA’s contain twice as many hops as a regular IPA. On the nose, you get aromas of passionfruit, apricot and stone fruits. On the pallet you get a citrus fruit flavours, like grapefruit, as well as pine. The El Dorado hops provide a balanced bitterness.

In Lion Rock, as part of our New Zealand Hop Showcase, we shine a spotlight on those with clear links of inspiration from British brewing heritage. Southern cross and Waimea hops can both trace back their breeding history to the humble British Fuggle Hop, bringing heady lemon zestiness and pine needle stickiness. The malt mix brings some pleasing bready and water cracker qualities with the oats adding that classic soft texture of a Hazy Pale.
