'GAMAY FOR CHRISTMAS DAY?????'

Finally warming up after a chilly but fruitful few days Festive Markets (thanks for the invite , what a fantastic weekend 🍻), and we're now fettling the shelves for our own festive period at Fanny's.

Unsurprisingly to us - but maybe for some - Beaujolais was an increasingly popular choice with many folk stocking up for Christmas this year, and not just because we're entering the Britpop reunion era.

Gamay is a versatile grape which can more than hold its own against a multitude of winter dishes, and definitely shouldn't be discounted as a crowd pleasing option for the 25th Decembe - or any other day for that matter.

With a solid selection on our shelves, we've got you covered for dinner at home to casual dining and at .

Of course, you're also allowed to drink it on its own in ; we're no fascists when it comes to Fleurie.

Come grab a bottle (or 4) from this Wednesday.

After tasting a few weeks ago and tingling with delight, this stunning Sicilian Nero d'Avola - Guancianera - has just landed at Fanny's, and we don't think it will be hanging around for long.

Vignaiolo Fabio Ferracane is based in Marsala, on Sicily"s west coast - a landscape famous for its peaks, cliffs, meadows, volcanic nature and calcareous clay.

Working organically and employing ancient farming techniques alongside a strong commitment to biodiversity in the vineyard and zero filtration or sulphur addition in the cellar, Fabio has succeeded in making wines evocative of ocean breeze and land alike.

For us, Guancianera 2023 embodies all elements of this magical island; a beautiful gemstone garnet hue, with an initial crunch of freshly-picked fruits before rolling into the depth of juicy black cherries, bitter dark chocolate, smoke, oregano and wild fennel. With very fine tannins, this wine is in perfect harmony, much like the landscape of its origin.

A perfect red for today, tomorrow, next week... or even next year (not long now!).
