Obama may have many qualities but brevity isn’t one of them.

It will be much easier with a couple of glasses of this Boekenhoutskloof Syrah, it’s my favourite. A big red wine, full of dark fruits, game and spice.

First ever vertical tasting of every vintage of the sublime Porseleinberg Syrah from South Africa. This is possibly the finest Syrah produced in the country. It’s only had one wine maker Callie Louw who likes to promote the image of simple farmer ‘aye right’ as we say up north.

Sometimes you forget how good a wine can be. I was taking part in online wine tasting and this was one of the wines. We have been selling it since we started but its a long time since we tasted it. It was fantastic. The people leading the tasting were saying you don't get a lot of reasonably priced Ribera. Well this is great value at £16.50

Greywacke tasting.
We had the opportunity to attend a tasting with Kevin Judd of Greywacke. Kevin was the first winemaker at Cloudy bay so he know how to make a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. After 25 years he launched his own wine Greywacke and we cant wait to taste the 2021 that is due to drop next week. In the mean time we had a chance to taste all the vintages of his wild ferment SB. Hard to believe that my favourite was 2009. Thanks Liberty wines for organising this fabulous tasting and lunch.

The Chocolate Block is 20!!

The 20th vintage of this iconic South African wine is about to land in the UK and it promises to be wonderful. The cooler growing season was beneficial for an extended ripening period and has produced grapes of the highest quality leading to this being a beautiful and elegant wine.
We were lucky to visit both the vineyards and the winery in February this year and when you hear Callie Louw and Mark Kent talk with such passion it’s easy to understand why they make such great wine.
