🚨Sad news alert🚨

After 5 years we have finally been forced to pull the plug on our Ramsbottom branch of Grape to Grain.
:
The usual combination of rising costs and dwindling sales in a faltering Rammy market mean we simply cannot keep our doors open. After watching incredible passion projects by talented and inspiring people close in Rammy over the last year we hoped to be able to weather the storm but the writing is on the wall.
:
This decision is not one we wanted to make but we have no choice and so close we must.

Over the years we have had an amazing collection of people form the Rammeh team, some awesome regulars and some great times. Thanks to you all for coming to see us and enjoy the cosy vibe.

Huge thanks to , , , as well as all the other guys and girls for their ceaseless work. Thanks to Nick our ever patient and helpful landlord and thanks to each and every customer over the last 5 and a half years.

This weekend is our last weekend, we hope to see you for a glass of something LEKKER…Saturday night in particular will be a great big throwdown. Come say hi…and bye…

Our Next Live Tasting is... California Dreamin' with Tom and Baz

Yankee juice, especially Cali stuff, ESPECIALLY good Cali stuff is something you can bet your house on..it delivers reliable, comforting wines, usually bright yet rich, with a legacy of fantastic interactions with oak. There's some dross...thats true of every wine-making country on the planet, admittedly some of the yank stuff is particularly poor...but thats always on the cards when you have a growing period that is so long you grow SO MUCH fruit and have such a huge international market for cheap gear.

But when it bangs...Yank, especially Cali, wines can be some of the best in the whole world. Ask the Frenchies...then remind them of the Judgement of Paris... ;)

We are visiting old Dutchie's portfolio again for four 'far out' drops...a Chardy and a Pinot Noir from Lander-Jenkins, then a Zinf (obvs) and a Bourbon barrel-aged Cab that will be so far up your collective streets. We have a bonus wine that is simply outstanding too.

So a message to all our customers, many of you have mentioned the lack of wine on our shelves in Rammy since the turn of the year. In truth we have been in starvation mode since Xmas and only really offering you mob the bare minimum…maintaining our wall of wine is expensive and we have been cash strapped so it was a luxury we had to do without. Prestwich needed the juice, and Rammy just didn’t. But we are a wine gaff…not having wine on the shelves made us sad…you lot too we reckon!

BUT….It’s BACK baby!!

Everyone has been struggling, the cost of living etc etc has had everyone watching their smart meters and fretting and worrying about every purchase. Wine, especially good wine, is a luxury…and recent months have meant luxuries have had to go by the way side…we get it, we’re in the same spot.

With recent closures of Rammy giants and favs like , and it feels like Rammy is shrinking…and in truth we have walked a tightrope ourselves.

But let’s be positive and hopeful…we have 3 bank holidays coming up in May, 3 big excuses to get out and enjoy ourselves. Turn the central heating off, get out the house and come see us, or the gang at , or … or . or .

Rammy aint dead yet guys, BUT…we really need your support and patronage…we don’t have deep pockets and we can’t survive on good wishes and fond memories of visits in years gone by. Come see us, lets kick off the together and share some wine!!

One of our fav producers since day ONE is Ca dei Frati from the southern shore of Lake Garda. Barry's been there...in fact he went so hard when he was there that he missed his next TWO winery visits. That tells you something...!! The secret to the success of the Cà dei Frati wines is outstanding vineyards. They grew from 12 hectares in the late 80's to over 200 now, and the quality of grape yield has tracked the increase in quantity, defo not the norm.

This tasting we are trying some different stuff from their portfolio - The first two wines have rarely, if ever graced our shelves, the Rosa has long been the best rose we stock and the Ronchedone is a graceful, elegant beast...which is also the name of our OnlyFans...lol. The Cuvee Frati is an outstanding Metodo Classico sparkling wine that was Baz's downfall for a good reason. The Amarone is a true thing of beauty...

🍷 WORLD MALBEC DAY LIVE TASTING🍷

Malbec is the main grape in the legendary ‘Black Wine of Cahors’. Way before Argentina made the varietal ‘famous’, Malbec – though in this region it is known as Côt or Auxerrois. – was making long-lived wines from Cahors – the 1959 Clos La Coutale is still drinking superbly.

Malbec World Day is an annual observance celebrated on April 17, to commemorate the day on which President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento of Argentina officially made it his mission to transform Argentina's wine industry. On April 17, 1853, Sarmiento tasked Michel Aimé Pouget, a French soil expert, to bring new vines to Argentina. Among the varietals Pouget brought was Malbec. Pouget continued experimenting with the adaptation of French varietals to Argentina's diverse terroirs. A decade later, the Great French Wine Blight affected the Rhône region. The name "Malbec World Day" translates from the Spanish "Día Mundial del Malbec," meaning "Malbec throughout the world". The name stuck and continues to confuse English speakers to this day, as most refer to it "World Malbec Day" or "Malbec Mondo" for those who like the alliteration. In the meantime, Malbec flourished in Argentina, creating wines widely superior to those of its country of origin. Many decades later, in 1956, France faced another obstacle when a freeze wiped out the majority of Malbec vineyards.
In the following years, specifically during the 1990s, Argentina positioned Malbec as their star varietal. More than 10,000 acres were planted and it became the undeniable leader of the country's exportations. Wine lovers around the world, especially in the United States, discovered and praised Argentine Malbec.
