IT'S NATIONAL FISH & CHIP DAY 🐟🍷
To honour all those involved in the D-Day landings, the largest naval, land and air operation in history, National Fish & Chip Day has moved from its traditional Friday slot and is being celebrated today which marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
What better way to celebrate the nations favourite dish than by grabbing a bottle of wine to drink with your chippy!
The Mineralium Chenin Blanc goes perfectly, as will the Merry Mole Chardonnay as the natural acidity makes for a perfect complement to the salt and fat in fish & chips.
If going for a red, try something light like the Sacchetto Pinot Nero, or the Montsable Pinot Noir. Avoid red wines with high tannins as they can make the fish taste unpleasant.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 🍷
IS ROSÉ A MIX OF RED & WHITE WINE?

The answer is no. It is actually forbidden in EU wine laws to mix red and white wine to make rosé. Rosé is made using black grapes which are used to make red wine. Rosé's pink colour comes from a maceration process. The red grape skins transfer the pink tones to the juice, but as opposed to red wines, rosé undergoes a short maceration time from 12-24 hours, which is why rosé is lighter in colour. The winemaker has complete control over the colour of the wine and will remove the grape skins when it has reached the desired colour.

IT'S PINOT GRIGIO DAY 🎉
Pinot Grigio sometimes gets a bad reputation in the wine community as they claim it's too "simple" and "uninteresting". We don't think this is true!
Of course there are some not fantastic, mass produced bottles available in supermarkets... However here at Turton Wines we stock a fabulous range of Pinot Grigio and Pinot Grigio Rosé that are simply delicious! Some of our best sellers 🙌🏼

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 🍷
DOES WITH A SCREW CAP MEAN IT'S BAD QUALITY?👀

The answer is NO! The traditional method of sealing a bottle of wine is with a cork. Then along came the screw cap. This brought with it the myth that wines sealed with a screw cap are inferior to those that have a cork. And it is 100% a myth!
There is no technical or scientific research that suggests that the screw cap is worse than a cork. There are many arguments to suggest that screw caps remove some problems that come with corks, for example; leakage, oxidation, and taint.
Not forgetting screw caps are are easier to open!
So don't let this myth come between you and a delicious bottle of wine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 🍷
SHOULD ALL WHITE WINE BE SERVED COLD?

Lighter white wines should be chilled between 7-10 ̊ C. White wines with more body, or oak, should be served at a warmer temperature of 10-13 ̊ C, just lightly chilled.
If the wine gets too cold, it can mask some of the flavours. This can make it too sharp resulting in an unpleasant drinking experience.

International Pinot Noir Day 🍷

TEAM FAVOURITES 🙌🏼 - Izzy has chosen her top two for this week... Domaine Robert Goulley Irancy Pinot Noir - It's International Pinot Noir Day! To celebrate, Izzy has picked one of our higher end pinot noirs to highlight this week. Robert Goulley Irancy offers a fresh and intense nose, slightly spicy, dominated by red fruit. The mouth experiences a fresh attack of raspberry, cherry, and blackcurrant followed by fine tannic intensity and ending on a harmonious final touch. Potential ageing for a further 10 years. Try with game and red meats, dishes with rich tomato sauces or mature cheeses. Brockmans Gin - Brockmans recipe of aromatic botanicals are steeped in pure grain spirit for many hours to release natural oils and aromas. Traditional notes of gin are combined with refreshing citrus and aromatic wild berries. Bulgarian coriander brings a gingery orange top note, complementing soft blueberry and blackberry, all supported by Tuscan juniper berries. Bittersweet Valencian orange peel elongates the deeper tones for an intensely smooth finish.
