September’s Cigar of the Month is
VegaFina 1998 VF 52 Robusto - A powerful flavourful smoke with an overall spicy profile accompanied by notes of sweetness and a deep woody aroma. It’s dark chocolate Ecuadorian wrapper covers an Indonesian binder and a Nicaraguan, Colombian and Dominican filler. Handmade at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory in the Dominican Republic. The VegaFina 1998 was created to mark the 20th Anniversary of this globally recognised brand. Altadis USA’s Grupo de Maestros developed the blend.

Bolivar Regentes 2021
The darker wrappers picked from the upper levels of to***co plants ate younger, thicker and fuller of natural oils and sugar.
This results in the demand longer periods and ageing than normal wrappers - up to nine months for fermentation, as opposed to one month, and over year foe ageing, compared to six months.
Consequently all Limited Edition wrappers are over two years old before they dress the cigar.

Macanudo Ci**rs

Macanudo was originally the name of a frontmark produced in Guatemala by the makers of the Cuban brand of Punch. In 1971, General Cigar, which had acquired rights to the name outside of Cuba, introduced a completely distinct Macanudo as a brand unto itself. Developed in Jamaica under the leadership of Ramón Cifuentes, a veteran of Cuban cigar maker Partagas. Production of the Macanudo line under General Cigar shifted from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic in October 2000.

La Gloria Cubana Turquinos vitola is the latest cigar to be launched and the Turquinos provides a stouter alternative for smokers who prefer a heavy ring gauge to savour the brand’s distinct medium bodied blend.
The Turquinos is named after Puco Turquino, Cuba’s highest mountain range and part of the famous Sierra Maestro mountain range in the southeast of the island.
These ci**rs are a classic Gordito size, measuring 5 1/2 x 50 ring gauge.

SAN CRISTOBAL CI**RS
Not a lot of people know about the San Cristobal range so heres a little bit of information - San Cristobal de le Habana was the original name of Havana, Cuba’s capital city, when it was founded in 1519; San Cristobal (St Christopher) in honour of Colombus and Le Habana after an Indian name for the site.
San Cristobal ci**rs were introduced in 1999 on the threshold of the new millenium as a tribute to the city’s long history.
At first thecrange comprised of just four vitolas, each named after one of the fortresses that defended Havana when it was the hub of Soain’s American empire. These were El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta and El Principe.
Then in 2004, three new sizes were added, which were unique to San Cristobal. These were named after well-known streets in Havana’s 17th century Old Town; Muralla, mercedederes and Oficios.
All San Cristobal’s are ‘Tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ - long filler, totally hand made to a light to medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo to***co zone.
Today just 4 ci**rs, from this range, are available - El Prado Casa, El Principe, La Fuerza and La Punta

Cigar of the Month for April
La Flor de Cano 'Elegidos' still available to purchase in store.

La Flor de Cano is a brand that was born in Havana during the first half of the 20th Century. It began in 1932 when Juan Cano Sainz and his wife Consuela decided to hire the services of a cigar roller to make ci**rs, literally, on their kitchen table.
With the help of close relatives, Juan and Consuela's business grew into a sound family company and in 1936 they registered the brand in Spain, which went on the become their largest export market.
In 1939 their 16 year old son, Ernesto, joined the business and, after he had obtained a degree from Havana University in 1947, he became an equal partner in the company, which was re-named J.Cano E Hijo.
In the early 1950's the company invested in machines to make many of their ci**rs such as the Predelictos, Preferidos and Selectos.
During the 1960's La Flor de Cano ci**rs continued in production with the emphasis on machine made sizes destined, in particular, for Spain and, more recently, short fillter, handmade sizes.
For a fleetingly brief period, between 1988 and 1992, Cubatabano introduced a small range of La Flor de Cano ci**rs in hand-made sizes. The range consisted of a Churchill size called Diadema, a Corona Gorda named the Gran Corona and a Robusto size known as the Short Churchill. All sizes were made at a factory in the Marianao district of Havana named Heroes del Moncada (the Heroes of Moncada).
