Will, our Buyer and Managing Director take you through a wine highlight of his, the Csernus Frankovka Modra, coming from their family run estate from the foothills of Mt Straz with only 3,052 bottles produced making this a very limited wine.
🍷 The aroma and taste are dominated by ripe red fruits, cherries and sour cherries, complemented by fine spices. Almost 8 months of aging in oak barrels makes the wine full and velvety, with a vanilla and smoky aftertaste, which it keeps in the bottle for several years. Frankovka is the same grape variety as Blaufrankisch and Kekfrankos.

The Special Cuvée No.1 is the Flagship wine of the Istenic family. Taking its name from founder and fizz fan Janez Istenic's football shirt from his days as Slovenia's national goalkeeper, the wine is made in the same traditional method as Champagne.
🥂 It is a blend using two classic Champagne varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but also an indigenous grape to Slovenia, Rumeni Plavac. This gives the wine a burst of peaches to the flavour, alongside delicious stone fruits, summer berries and a smooth, creamy character.
