Police are appealing for information regarding the theft of cut logs from a garden in Kirkton, near Kyle, during July 2024. The logs value up to £2000 and would have required a large vehicle to remove. Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 quoting CR/0274832/24.

The Balmacara Post Office is set to close next month following the withdrawal of the premises for the provision.

The service based in Reraig will close on Friday 17th May at 3pm.

Commenting to Radio Skye, a spokesperson for the Post Office said that the Balmacara Post Office will be closing due to the resignation of its retail partner and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.

They spokesperson added that amid finite Goverment funding and following a comprehensive review of the network, analysing customer demand, at this time they are not looking to replace the Balmacara Post Office.

Customers will be directed to use the Post Office at Kyle instead once the Balmacara service closes.

Well today marks my 6 years off being in balmacara for me and the girls and I’m proud to call it my home now.
Everyone here has made us so welcome and we been through a lot but yous have all been amazing 🙏
Firstly I thank all the staff past and present who have to put up with my singing and madness I honestly appreciate it even though I don’t say 🤣 but also all the customers and friends I have made and ones that just look after me and the girls yous are the best and made it home for the mad 5 and now my wee Aurora ❤️
