A few of the wines from .lesvalseuses featured at the Trade Tasting 13th of August

CADÊ MEU CARNAVAL? 2022
A super fresh and crisp pet’nat with southern french grapes mix of Colombard and Bourboulenc from the Languedoc and Carignan, Ugni Blanc and Cinsault from Luberon in Provence. The grapes receive a slow direct press and finishes fermentation in bottle before being disgorged.

CARGO CULTE 2021
Grenache Blanc from the Languedoc with two months whole cluster maceration.

PETITE FLEUR 2021
A vibrant blend of whole cluster Gamay from Beaujolais steeping in direct pressed Alsatian Sylvaner and Auxerrois for 8 months. Despite it’s multi-region origin, its taste distinctly recalls the Jura.

As always bottled unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2.

From the beautiful little hamlet of Les Planches-près-Arbois in Jura spring the daring and singular joie de vivre wines from one of France’s most innovative wine makers.

A selection of the wines suiting the season the best will feature at the next Trade Tasting August 13th at Silberbauers Bistro.

The latest wines released from the depths of Antoine Le Court and Julia Naar’s cellar is a mix of wines from 2020 and 2021. They pride themselves on bottle ageing their wines as long as possible and good things sure come to those who wait ❤️

A few of the wines from shown at the Trade Tasting 13th of August

MONTÉE FURIEUSE 2022

Jacquère from a steep southwest facing hillside on Molasse soils, a sandstone rich soil with lime cement that weathers to quartz sand giving the wine a lively freshness. Typical of Jacquère, it is fruity and direct with a body brought on by raging on the lees in Demi-muids.

ZENITH 2022

Equal parts Altesse and Jacquère with meticulously sorting of the best grapes from the estate. 100% destemmed with an 18 days maceration revealing surprising notes of Gentian and Anise. The different varieties are assembled during pressing, then aged in 600-liter barrels on fine lees until bottling.

COSMOS 2021

50% destemmed and 50% whole bunches of Mondeuse on Molasse and Jet soils. Macerated for 25 days and partly aged in barrels until bottling. A Mondeuse in it’s true sense with deep black fruit aroma and a spicy, bright palate with grippy tannins.

NEW FROM CORENTIN HOUILLON

It is a real highlight to be able to share the wines of Corentin Houillon who consistently is making wonderful wines with so much clarity and nerve.

Corentin’s wines will feature at the next Trade Tasting August 6th at Silberbauers Bistro.

The 2022 season was a hot and dry affair for the most parts, but a magnificent season allowed time to carefully to tend to each plant which in return provided ideal conditions for the grapes eliminating diseases like mildew and black rot. The prolonged heat and dryness lead to a much earlier harvest than usual with richer wines characterized by well-marked aromatics.

New wine from Marie et Vincent Tricot

From Orcet in Auvergne, they make some of the region’s most charming wines - always honest and pure expressions of Auvergne’s grape varieties full of fruit and great drinkability.

These are the last wines of their 2022 vintage - their autumn release with longer élevage. Despite a long and warm year, balanced fruit and acidity is in check due to their higher elevation of their vineyards.

NEW WINES FROM KARNAGE

Karnage, aka The Electric Rainbow keeps providing us with the most energetic and joyous wines and it is truly a pleasure to be able to show the result of their ingenous approach to wine making.

Karnage is the collaboration between long-time friends Charles Dagand and Stéphane Planche, where the wines from 2020 are their first vintage. Charles Dagand is a former partner with Alice Bouvot from Domaine l'Octavin, where together they created a legendary domaine over 10 years.

Charles has since made his own wine under the name Carlito, but after a few terrible vintages where he lost all his grapes to frost and disease, Charles has teamed up with Jura's infamous sommelier icon Stéphane Planche in this new project.

The grapes come from Charles' own fields and from friends in the Jura and the rest of France. They harvest the grapes themselves and vinify them in Charles' cellar in Abergement-le-Grand just outside Arbois.

The combination of a huge winemaking talent and mad professor sommelier who has decided to really have fun making wine results in some magically alive wines packed with a boundless energy. The common thread is a playful lightness in the wines that makes them truly transparent, delicate and alive.

NEW FROM CORENTIN HOUILLON

I am very happy to share the 2021 vintage from talented young Corentin Houillon in Savoie.

2021 proved to be a challenging vintage with spring frost hitting both the white and red grapes hard. Despite a very long wet season and hail damages, Corentin was able to harvest excellent grapes and after extensive sorting he has produced a very lively vintage, light in alcohol and with great drinkability.

INTRODUCING HENRI CHAUVET

Henri displays as much respect, love and dedication to the land he farms as any grower I have met. He farms 10.5 hectares of Gamay, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay dotted around the village of Boudes in Auvergne where he arrived in 2021.
Henri speaks with intensity and conviction about his beautiful vineyards and the decision to vinify each plot and grape variety separately is a colossal task he has taken on to fully immerse himself in his terrior.

Henri works very distinct terroirs divided between several plots. The vineyards on the steep hill sides surrounding the village some 500 metres above sea level, have more typical volcanic Auvergne terroir with basalt and a unique mix of blue, red and white marls. In the valley clay rich soils dominate rich in iron oxide and quartz. Henri's work in the vines is excellent, he farms organically, by hand and with real integrity.

The vinification is done without intervention, in native yeasts, nothing is fined or filtered. Only old barrels are used, the wines are mostly without added So2 but if necessary, he reserves the right to use some.

Henri produces nourishing wines built on a backbone of pristine fruit and possess a remarkable sense of place.

Savoury and complex Viognier from the Luberon in Provence pressed straight to old barrels where the juice spent a winter in Jura before being bottled.

No. 3 2020
Mondeuse chock full of iron and peppery bite from the Savoie. The grapes were fermented as whole bunches in cuve for 8 months.

Pinot Noir from Molamboz in Jura macerated for 9 months in whole bunches. The wine spent one year in vats followed by an additional year in barrels.

De sidste vine fra 2020 årgangen fra Marie et Vincent Tricot ankom for et par måneder siden og smager nu fremragende.

Fra Orcet i Auvergne laver de nogle af regionens mest betagende vine - altid ærlige og rene udtryk af Auvergnes druesorter fyldt med frugt og høj drikbarhed.

Besøg hos Lannay & Delahaye

Maxim startede sit domæne i 2017 og på de fem år har han oplevet de tre værste årgange i Juras historie hvor udbyttet har været ekstremt lavt pga. frostramte marker, hagl og svampeangreb.
Det er en fornøjelse at have fulgt Max fra hans første årgang og til nu og til trods for den helt enorme modgang bliver vinene fra Maxim og Isabelle kun bedre og bedre.

Efter et par dage i Savoie gik turen nordpå til Jura til mere vante rammer i og omkring Saint Lothain og Pupillin hvor jeg besøgte Kevin Bouillet og Didier Grappe.

Til trods for endnu et år i Jura med næsten intet drueudbytte grundet frost i det sene forår, hagl og meldug angreb, var der evig optimisme at spore.

Besøg hos Didier Grappe er altid et kæmpe højdepunkt og vinene fra 2020 var så smukke og fine - 2020 var noget nært et perfekt år og det viser sig tydeligt i vinene. Didier har for første gang lavet en vin på 100% Seyve Villard som er en ny, for de fleste, men gammel druesort i Jura med klare associationer til Savagnin. Den blev normalt dyrket af bønder der havde blandet landbrug og som lavede vin til eget behov. Didier kalder den ‘cepage résistante’ da den i modsætning til andre druesorter aldrig skal sprøjtes i marken og er naturlig modstandsdygtig.

I Pupillin tog Kevin Bouillet mig med ud i hans gamle marker i landsbyen - op til 90 år gamle Ploussard stokke som hans bedstefar som ung selv dyrkede. Selvom Kevin er en ny vinmager, arbejder han med tålmodig, lang elevage og resultatet er fantastisk.

Chardonnay Longefin 2019 | Didier Grappe

Chardonnay fra Didier kan ofte bruge længere tid i kælderen end hans andre vine før de er klar, men tålmodighed belønnes og nu er den sidste vin fra Didier i 2019 frigivet.

Og det er måske den bedste Chardonnay der er kommet ud af Didiers kælder.

Didiers signatur er præcise, elektriske og citrussyredrevne vine og det får du i spandevis. En smuk Chardonnay der står mål med de allerbedste eksempler på Chardonnays fra Jura.
