Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you the signature of Hungarian red wines, the Egri Bikavér 🔥. Its literal translation means bull's blood 🐃 and it comes from an exciting ancient legend....

Before we speak about it, you should know that these premium wines from Eger have strict regulations that only allows them to use 3 out of 13 grapes and at least 40% of the autochthonous Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) in order to bear its name. There are few producers, and has mastered theirs for years. 🍇🍷

Now, the story dates back to the Ottoman occupation during the 15 hundreds. It is said that in order to encourage the Hungarian warriors to keep on fighting, they would be offered red wine. The Turks would be puzzled seeing the enthusiasm of their opponents and could only explain the reason for their power was attributed to the red liquid they were drinking, which they thought was bull's blood. ⚔️

Coming to the end of the harvest around some areas of Europe. The grapes that have stayed so long are usually used to produce sweet dessert wines, and are often referred to as Late Harvest. 🇪🇺 🍇

In Germany, some of those wines go for the name Spätlese, while in other countries like Hungary and in specific in the region of Tokaj, there are many more categories to refer to these wines. A few familiar names are Aszu or Szamorodni. 🇩🇪🇭🇺🥂

As the warmer season comes to an end, it is also important to start collecting your wines for the cold season. We have already started, what about you? 😅

If summer has given us something besides warm sunny days, it has been the opportunity to enjoy great Hungarian wines in one of the most emblematic areas of this great country, Lake Balaton! ☀️🇭🇺

All together, Balaton has 6 wine regions, including Badacsony, Balatonboglár, Balaton-felvidék, Balatonfüred-Csopak, Nagy-Somló and Zala. The most famous grape variety of this area is Olaszrizling. It's known for flavors of citrus fruits, apple, almond, and floral notes, but also prominent mineral and salty notes. 🌊🥂

And of course, delicious wines from Balaton can be found online at winewonders.de! Cheers!😎🍷

Besides a good Hungarian wine, we thought a delicious Ribera del Duero wine from would do the trick, and we weren't wrong. The aromatic wine with dark fruits taste paired perfectly with this delicacy. 🍷😍

This calm Saturday made us remember that special trip to Bordeaux during the Christmas holidays and also gave us an excuse to open a delicious wine from 🍷.

Perhaps you haven't heard about Le Rose Pauillac, but they are a small cooperative born in 1933 from the desire of around thirty owners to come together to make a Grand Médoc wine in AOC Pauillac. For over 90 years, they have produced delicious wines putting the name of Pauillac high together with giants of the industry like Chateau Lafite Rothschild. 🇨🇵

At Wine Wonders you can find their 2014 vintage, which offers a great price quality option for such a prestigious wine region. 🥂

Spending a few days at the Canary Islands was not only therapeutic, but also a good opportunity to discover some exotic, yet delicious wines that can't be found everywhere. ☀️🏝

Born in volcanic soil, some of the wines show flavours like no others. Besides the terroir, the autochthonous varieties give these wines a distinctive taste. Listán Negro & Negramoll, are two examples of the grapes that made this Viña Norte red wine from , which offered fresh and juicy flavours of raspberry, pomegranate and cranberry. If you haven't tried a wine from a Spanish island, you would certainly be surprised. Cheers! 🌋🍷

A good steak deserves a great wine as a companion. And this Argentinian Bife got no other than a Gran Reserva from La Rioja. 🥩🍷

The clasifications vary from region to region in Spain, in La Rioja, for example, a Gran Reserva must be aged for a minimum of 60 months, of which at least 24 months need to be aged in oak barrels and the rest can be in the bottle before release. 🇪🇦

Our friends from take the aging to the next level. This 2009 bottle was aged for full 4 years (48 months) in oak barrels. This full-bodied and complex wine with wonderful flavours of red and dark fruits won several awards, and each of their following vintages continue to do so! 💥🏅

So , if you are looking for that option that will blow your mind and dinner, search no more, Gran Reserva is the answer, while for your source, you might find it here. Salud! 😉🥂

One of the beauties of spring besides the warmer weather is seeing flowers bloom and erupt back to life. 🌸 That is also the case for vines, which go on a dormant stage for a few months, until they feel comfortable again to boom back to life and in a matter of days you have a beautiful plant full of sprouts which soon become leaves. 🌱

Our Story

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them...

The origin of Wine Wonders dates back to autumn of 2014, after the founder did an Erasmus semester in Budapest, Hungary. Back at the time, he knew little about wines, however this passion originated out of curiosity to taste some local wines with exotic names.

As for any student with limited money, the budget for drinks was not much, but he was surprised to see the quality of some of the red wines from grape varieties he had never seen or heard before in his life. Since then he dreamed about commercializing Hungarian Wine and introducing it to the world. Throughout his time in Hungary he would try numerous different wines while learning about its history. However this dream was far from reality without a concrete plan or money.

At the beginning of 2015 he returned to his home country, Mexico, to finish his bachelor’s degree. That year he would meet a girl that would make him dream big and set his next objective again in Europe. He graduated from International Marketing and while working he applied to numerous jobs in Austria and Germany without success. The odds of finding a job without much work experience and a Non-European Passport seemed very low, however he wouldn’t give up. Instead, he found a way around, through a master’s degree. In the end his dream was simply to be closer to the girl he loved. After dozens of applications, he got accepted for a master’s degree at the Technical University of Munich, starting on autumn 2016. He bought a one-way ticket to pursue his dreams and a new life leaving Mexico behind.
