Dear Wine Friends, Wine Enthusiasts & South Africa Fans
It has been 25 years since I set out with KapWeine to make South Africa and its wines known in Switzerland. And it has not been an easy journey! Neither for South Africa nor for KapWeine. But what is easy?

I would never have dreamt - never ever ever ever- that 25 years later South African wines would present themselves in such a variety and quality density. And even less that we at KapWeine would be allowed to represent most of the reommissioned, old wineries together with the new, up-and-coming ones as partners in Switzerland.

And believe me, I have a great imagination coupled with visions. But not in my wildest dreams......

So I come to the conclusion: What a lucky bastard I am! Simply a lucky bastard. The fact that KapWeine and I are where we are today is not due to me alone. Far from it!

I get to work with great, interesting people and friends from the dream country of South Africa and finally have a CapeWine team together with whom I can continue to promote South Africa over the next XX? years. years to bring South Africa forward. But even I and my team cannot do it alone. There are about 40 enthusiastic, tireless Cape Angels who support us on all fronts and step in when we need power. Be it at our Grill-Degu events, at external events, in the showroom and in the warehouse when it's high noon again, or with the 28 containers (each with about 14,000 bottles) that had to be unloaded and stowed away this year.

After an appeal to our customers, a few new Cape Angels have just joined the team, because there is always more work to do. Most of these Angels have come to us as customers, have proven to be enthusiastic South African wine fans and have thus become Cape Angels.

At this point I would like to express my deepest, heartfelt thanks:

To my team, to all my Cape Angels, and of course to you dear customers (many of you are already part of the CapeWine family, so to speak!). To all my companions and supporters who have supported me and stood by me with words and deeds over the years. To the many South African partners in Switzerland and all the people who help to promote KapWeine and South Africa. Last but not least, my wife Petra and my family who put up with me. (by the way, this also applies to my KapWeine team).

With this in mind, believe in your dreams and get going..... It's never easy in life anyway.... and never too late! Therefore, the best thing is to try... this does not only apply to wines.

Now I toast with you, and invite you to experience some of my further thoughts on the old and the new year as you read on.
