All the way from Stellenbosch, South Africa comes legendary winemaker Ken Forrester. An opportunity unlike any other to meet an international winemaker who certainly enjoys entertaining and talking about South African wines.

Ken and his wife Tressa had their heart set on purchasing a wine estate in Stellenbosch and eventually purchased the historic Botha Estate in 1993. The estate originally dates back to 1689 and although the property passed hands numerous times, it fell derelict and required significant restoration when Forester’s took possession. The end result has allowed Ken to produce wines of global recognition and acclaim, and acquired the title “godfather of Chenin”and recognized as the first winemaker to produce Rhone-inspired red blends in South Africa.

Decanter magazine praised his 2021 Old Vine Chenin Blanc Reserve 97 points and “Worlds Best Chenin Blanc”.

We will have his 2007 vintage of Ken’s Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc exclusively at this tasting. A chance to purchase a wine that demonstrates the true aging potential of this revered grape varietal.

This Thursday May 30th from 5:30-7pm our warehouse session will be tasting through the wines of Greece! A super fun & unique opportunity to dive into such beautiful wines from a region very underrepresented here in BC.

We are excited to have Elini Kinti join us who studied winemaking in Athens as well a holds a masters degree in viticulture-enology from Bordeaux. Elini is very fond of the Mediterranean and has many harvests under her belt in Greece, Spain, and France.

We are beyond excited to host Richard DaSilva of in our Winemakers Circle tomorrow night at The Warehouse.

The DaSilva roots of farming and winemaking date back to mid 1700’s Portugal and in 1955 the family immigrated to the South Okanagan to continue on the family tradition. Richard is devoted to crafting wines that reflect “place” and the individuality of the growers via specific single vineyards. He’s all about the old-world (European) approach by taking care of the soil and allowing the vineyards to shape the wine and ageing process.

If there is a winemaker in the Okanagan we can introduce you to who’s devoted to creating wines that will define a true sense of the Okanagan Valley stylistically to a world stage… than Richard is our pic!

Richard will be joined by Shay Code (Code Wines) and Rob VanWesten (Van Westen Vineyards) tomorrow evening 5:30-7pm in our warehouse.

Shay Code (Winemaker/Owner) of Code Wines will be joining us in The Warehouse this coming Thursday March 28th from 5:30-7pm.

Code Wines is a tiny boutique winery located in the Okanagan Falls producing between 50-100 cases of each wine. The quality is dialled in, and we’ve yet to see a local winery gain as much hype and attention so quickly from wine critics.

Cask & Barrel enjoys introducing the wine aficionados to wineries they’ve yet to discover in our valley. We believe .wines truly produces the gems we are always in search of and a perfect pairing along two other local gems and

Van Westen Vineyards has always been a key favourite recommendation for local BC wine since our doors opened.

Tucked away on the Naramata Bench, this winery has evolved from over 50yrs of family tradition cultivating the soils and producing some of the best wines in British Columbia. The expertise and emphasis on sustainable cool climate viticulture practices allows the winery to grow quality fruit, therefore producing some of the valleys most exceptional wines.

Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne

"Pierre Paillard cultivate their own selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their 28 Acre estate. With seriously low dosage of 1.8g/l, this is a rich wine from ripe, south-facing parcels in the Grand Cru of Bouzy. This wine is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay with about 1/3 reserve wines. This wine has such power and presence it deserves a great pairing like lobster, but also has the elegance to enjoy as an aperitif." K&L

Champagne Pierre Péters Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs

Pierre Péters in the village of Le Mesnil Sur Oger, has been a family house for six generations and has produced Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs since 1919. Fruit for their wines come exclusively from their own vineyards giving them a mastery level of quality control and consistency.

This is a spectacular Champagne. An assemblage of more than 20 years of reserve wines culminate to bring you a crisp fruit an lightly floral overture, climaxing in its richness of toasted almond and brioche, while ribbons of microbubbles and soft viscosity dance in the mouth to underscore its true excellence.

Quantities are very limited.

He will guide your tasting through the whiskies of Tamnavulin, Fettercairn, Jura, and Dalmore.

Some of these drams you might be familiar with, and some you might not, however this selection has been picked because they are absolutely delicious, and to help spotlight whiskies that have a fascinating history behind them. Also, while some may know intimately the stories behind them, Louis, with his charismatic exuberance, will fill in any gaps in the perspective you might have.

Champagne Jacquesson 742

"The Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 742, based on the 2014 vintage is a gorgeous wine. In this release, the Cuvée seems especially marked by Pinot in both its flavour profile and texture. Dried pear, hazelnut, mint, chamomile and dried flowers all grace this rich, beautiful, resonant Champagne from Jacquesson. Best of all, the 742 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The 700-series Champagnes are often superb; the 742 is an especially fine edition. The blend is 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter"

Gosset Champagne

One of the smallest Grand Marque producers in Champagne, Gosset has garnered a reputation for top quality amongst its peers. Established in 1584 this Champagne house has maintained an illustrious following of high profile clientele due to its unassuming elegance.

Gosset Grande Réserve Brut
A very fine mousse wraps confidently around a spine of ripe, crunchy, gala apple, fruitiness, and rich toasted brioche, with subtle lemon and fennel notes lingering in the background. A light lacing of chalky minerality balances out richness and adds to a clean, lingering finish.

Gosset Rosé Brut
Pretty red cherry and strawberry fruit is fragranced with rose petal perfume and tamarillo. A slight salty, chalky minerality harmoniously glides along with a ripe malic acidity to a long luscious finish.

These are celebration wines for sharing with lovely people and fine finessed foods.

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé is always a crowd favourite. 100%Pinot Noir specifically selected from 10 Crus just south of Reims. Destemmed and macerated for up to 72 hrs resulting in a beautiful raspberry/salmon coloured hue, this nonvintage wine is ideally aged for 5 years.

A soft/fine bubble spectacularly integrated flavours of ripe red fruits(strawberry/Raspberry). Opulent, round, smooth, and balanced with subtle kiss of sweetness despite being a brut and finishing dry.

Pairs spectacularly with fresh seasonal berries, or soft cheeses.

A beautiful Champagne from a "grower" producer known for its extraordinary finesse and quality. Grown from 100% Grand Cru vineyard sites and made truly in the "old world" way. Coquard pressed, hand discouraged, and hand riddled.

Toasted richness is balanced with a subtle minerality and herbaceousness. A powerful wine with mouthwatering acidity. Tiny bubbles that create a soft mousse, and a velvety texture that lingers on into the dry finish.

A spectacular wine to share with special people while indulging on your favourite charcuterie delicacies.
