We are luck enough to have two brilliant manufacturing partners in our portfolio and it is no coincidence that they are produce whisky too. But this is your granddad's whisky, this is Finnish RYE whisky.

With the genesis born in a sauna by five friends bullsh*tting and drinking American rye one night, this idea to create a rye whisky from 100% malted Finnish rye. Packed with flavour like no other rye you've had, they've changed the course of what rye whisky can be.

It's Single Malt Rye...it's not a true category but it should. And you'll have these guys to thank when there is. and

So enjoy this thoughtful, sauna moment, contemplate what's in your glass. And for those looking to explore the boundaries these Finnish dreamers pushed, you won't be disappointed.

It's World Whisky Day and with 9 months under it's built, 'The Hearach' has been steadily being acknowledge as an outstanding dram. So here is a throw back, the video created for the historic release of the 'The Hearach' on September 27th, 2023.

Punching above it's weight for a relatively young whisky, a NAS single malt consisting of marriage of 5-8 year old liquid all, 'The Hearach' is already amassing a collection of awards for this inaugural release.

Which is no surprise as the thought behind this dram, the cask selections and craftsmanship at the Isle of Harris Distillery is a true testament to the legacy of all who work there in building a tomorrow for all of the Hearachs and the generations to come.

So if you haven't already, do yourself a favour a seek a bottle of this beauty and taste what the passion of a community can produce.

We featured ‘The Hearach’ at this year’s Whisky and Words Fundraiser. It wad a great crowd with lots of interest and conversations about what makes ‘The Hearach’ special and what the mission of The Isle of Harris is.

This gent is the legendary whisky writer, Charles MacLean. His efforts in supporting the whisky trade and charities have been so prolific that in 2021 he was honoured with becoming a Member of the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or MBE.

With all that writing, you can only imagine the quantity and quality of drams this man has had the privilege to enjoy!

So with that, here's what Mr. MacLean had to say about 'The Hearach' Single Malt from Isle of Harris:

"I can’t tell you how impressed I am...the flavour profile is truly unique. I have never tasted a whisky like it, and have rarely been so impressed by a first release.

What's more, it really does seem to embody the island of its birth - sea-spray, kelp and smouldering peat smoke; elemental, but also gentle, faintly floral and with a texture as soft as a Gaelic song - very more-ish!

Layers of complexity, a fine balance of flavours, and distinctive character. I raise what little remains in my glass to The Hearach’s success."

These sherry butts are used in the making of The Hearach. In fact, The Hearach uses both Oloroso and Fino sherry casks for maturing the whisky stock. When ready, the stock is married with whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace for an 14+ weeks.

Cask selection plays a massive role in the production of this historic scotch from the Isle of Harris.

The Hearach - it's Scots Gaelic (and that's pronounced GALL-ic not GAY-lic) meaning "someone of is from the Isle of Harris". As an ambassador for the island, 'The Hearach' will spread across the globe connecting people to this ancient rock just off the northwest Scottish coast through the love of whisky.

By the people and for the people of Harris, 'The Hearach' is a legacy to the families and generations to come to build a future for these island folk.

The rest of us are blessed that they decided to let this whisky leave the island.

What those bonnie angels leave for the rest of us will become The Hearach, the first (legal) whisky from the Isle of Harris.

Happy International Gin & Tonic Day!

With three great gins for Gin & Tonic in our portfolio, Oct 19 is a happy day!

First up is Kyrö Gin. It's the clear one on the first slide. Like everything Kyrö, it's rye-based. This gin has 17 botanicals with its 4 signature Finnish botanicals of meadowsweet, sea buckthorn, birch leaves and cranberries. It's Finnish summer in a bottle.

Next up, is Kyrö Pink Gin. If Kyrö (Clear) Gin is Finnish summer in a bottle, Pink Gin is the Finnish sunny summer late afternoon, on the patio with a bowl of strawberries in a bottle. Sweet but not too sweet berries, a touch of tartness from rhubarb...it's oh so good.

And lastly, from the Isle of Harris, it's the Isle of Harris Gin. A wheat-based gin showcasing its star botanical of island-harvested sugar kelp. This is THE coastal gin that started the infused seaweed flavour. Exceptionally well-balanced, the gin moves through citrus fruits and herbal tones woven with juniper with an exquisite umami texture and salinity from the sugar kelp. This, my friends, is a modern classic.

The countdown is on! 30 Days until the First Release of the 'The Hearach' Scotch Whisky is available in BC!

We have been eagerly waiting for this day since introducing Isle of Harris Gin to Western Canada in April 2020.

Matured in Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill Ex-Bourbon casks, Oloroso Sherry and Fino Sherry ranging from 8-year old to 4-year old. The whiskies are then married and rested in an Oloroso Sherry butt for a minimum of 12 weeks to harmonize the voices of this historic dram.

'The Hearach' will be releasing as part of the BC Liquor Stores 2023 Fall Premium Spirits Release. With limited availability, this historic whisky will go fast!

Welcome friends to 'The Hearach'.

After more than a decade of a vision to create a legacy for the Isle of Harris, 'The Hearach' has arrived. And what an absolute stunner it is!

Aged individually in four different cask types - bourbon casks from two distilleries, oloroso sherry and fino sherry. These casks are then married together for a minimum of twelve weeks for greater richness and deeper harmony.

Water from nearby Abhain Cnoc A'Charrain, the softest water in Scotland; unique climate from the gulf stream for aging; manual distillation by Harris distillers; hand-picked oak casks; and island patience, all come together to make for a uniquely Harris dram.

We cannot wait to make new friends and share this exceptional dram!

This is Ardhasaig. A small settlement just down the road from Tarbert, home of the Isle of Harris Distillery.

Here is home to not one, but two off-site maturation warehouses. Warehouse One is full of 'The Hearach' whisky maturing in its five different cask types. Warehouse Two was completed this year and has begun housing the legacy of the special island. Slainte to the whisky to come!

When Kyrö Gin was created, the inspiration behind it was to create a gin that reminded the founders of Finnish Summer in a glass. So, in it, you'll find four signature, Finnish ingredients of meadowsweet, sea buckthorn, Birch leaves and cranberries.

Herbal notes, a slight tartness, and of course a present, but never overpowering, juniper. Spiciness from Finnish rye gives Kyrö Gin some backbone helping it stand up in a gin & tonic or whichever gin cocktail enjoy.

Working for over a decade to create a legacy for the Isle of Harris, the inaugural release of the first legal dram from Harris will be released in the UK in a mere thirty-one days on Friday, Sept 22, 2023.

Born from a desire to rebuild the island economy and to bring families back to Harris, 'The Hearach' scotch whisky is more than drink. It is part of the future of Harris and will be woven into the fabric of this tiny island home like its namesake tweed.

This is a beautiful shot of Isle of Harris Gin and a magnificent Harris Serve Gin & Tonic. But what is also cool about this picture is the rock on which the glass is set upon.

This is Lewisian Gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in the world dating back 2.7 - 3 billion years old. Not only is this rock formation special for its age but also it produces the softest water in the UK. You see, Lewisian Gneissis is so dense that water doesn't really pe*****te it therefore minerals do not leach out to harden the water or affect the taste.

And this is particularly good when you are making damn fine whisky. Looking forward, to be very understated, to the upcoming release of the 'The Hearach'.

Tomorrow at Kyröfest 2023 we are releasing this extraordinary rye whisky as a part of our core range. Kyrö Peat Smoke is made of full-grain rye malt which is peat smoked in a barn. We use Finnish freshwater peat. That peat has a very distinct character drawing from the surrounding nature.💎 This gem of a whisky has already received a silver medal in IWSC 2023.
