Islay whiskies are often referred to as strongly peated and extreme, but the island is far from one dimensional.
⁠
There is a wide variety of flavours that can be savoured across the island. ⁠
Many Islay whiskies gain influence in taste from different aspects on and around Islay such as, the Atlantic, which imparts a sea salt note to the spirit. Whereas peat is responsible for the more earthy and smoky tones. In terms of more floral and delicate notes, Loch Indaal is one of the primary influences for this flavour.⁠

This expression, similar to the original, is matured in both 1st-fill and re-fill oloroso casks, giving the whisky a lovely complexity of dried fruits, and fragrant, orchard fruits. The only difference here is that it is bottled at an ABV of 58.6% (cask strength). Doing this gives the whisky a lovely intensity and robustness to the flavour with the alcohol carrying some of those flavour compounds, enhancing its concentration

In the last year we've brought in some cracking drams, introducing our non Chill filtered liquid from northern Distillery Teanininch in the highlands of Scotland, and our special selected Mortlach at cask strength “the colour of molasses“ for one of our Rare Retailers in Alberta.
