The journey to Rocky Mountain Wine Spirits Beer began nearly 20 years ago when our owners started the Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival and later took on Winefest. Fast forward to today, we want to bring incredible drinks you can cheers to all year round – not just on Festival weekends. Now, you may be wondering, why open a liquor store? So we can drink wine all day, of course! Just kidding…kind
of. In all seriousness, we wanted to start a community; a place to come and hang out, talk about your favourite drinks, discover new ones, and maybe learn a few things in the process. Because let’s be honest, we’ve spent way too much time taste-testing products not to share our knowledge and some of the world’s best products with you. We're stocking 1000+ wines at every price point, 500 beers with a large focus on craft varieties, and a spirits selection to create everything from an Old Fashioned to a Bellini. We focus on providing excellent customer service and a fantastic selection. Nothing is put on the shelf unless it passes a taste test. We stand behind our products – if your newly purchased bottle was a party crasher, don’t be shy about it. Bring it back and we’ll get you something else to try.

The bad news is we woke up to a bunch of very heavy, wet snow today. The good news is we have the perfect whisky on deck for this week’s to combat the never ending Alberta winter.

If you need us this weekend we will be obsessing over this new stunner from the amazing winemaker, Aline Beauné. This 100% Chardonnay made classically in the Burgundian style is structured with lively acidity, and notes of yellow apples, lemon curd, and citrus fruits. It screams to be paired with freshly shucked oysters if you need some inspiration on this sunny Saturday!

This week’s Whiskey Wednesday feature is Lochlea OUR BARLEY Single Malt: Lochlea’s core single malt whisky! Matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, Oloroso Sherry casks and STR barriques, Lochlea ‘Our Barley’ sits at 46% ABV and is non chill-filtered with no added colouring.
Aromas of pear, boiled sweets, fresh cut grass and orange peel before a peppery palate of macadamia nuts and baked rye bread, finishing up long, orangey and waxy.
Lochlea are also the only distillery in the world who can rightfully claim that Robert Burns himself lived and worked here. SPARKLING CITRUS MIMOSA SOUR (ABV 7.0% | IBU 05) Inspired by the lively cocktail, this sour ale features loads of blood orange puree, white wine grape concentrate to boost fermentability and lend wine notes, cold pressed tangerine peel oil for more aromatics and is finished with a light dry hop of nelson sauvin lending its own notes of gooseberry and sauv blanc. Sophisticated yet easy drinking. Orange, Citrus, White Wine, Blood Orange, Floral.
CYRO POP COLD IPA (ABV 6.5%) Taking the crispiest lager yeast and matching it with the zingiest hops, we made a crisp, clean, cold IPA featuring Simcoe and Cryo Pop hops. Hop notes of passion fruit, peach, pine and citrus dominate this crushable IPA.

This week’s Whiskey Wednesday feature is Adelphi Private Stock Blended Scotch Whisky: A limited batch release, Solera method, blended Scotch whisky with a high percentage of well-aged malts, the Adelphi Private Stock was selected by the first owner of the company to meet his grandmother’s demand for an “everyday whisky” with complexity. Adelphi Private Stock was selected by Charles MacLean and James Walker in 1993. The actual recipe of the Adelphi Private Stock remains a closely guarded secret. Sale Price $28.99

THE LAST WORD: A gin-based cocktail originating at the Detroit Athletic Club in the 1910s, shortly before the start of Prohibition. After a long period of obscurity, it enjoyed a renewed popularity in the early 2000s when it was reintroduced at the Zig Zag Café in Seattle.
3/4 ounce Gin
3/4 ounce Green Chartreuse
3/4 ounce Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
3/4 ounce Lime juice, freshly squeezed
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled coop glass and garnish with a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry 🍒
