Can you believe it’s March already?!

Thinking ahead to the next couple of months there is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart and I’m sure to lots of yours as well!
is putting together gift bags for moms at McMaster and giving them out in Mother’s Day. I have a donation jar out at the store for those of you who are able to donate. Please read the paragraph below for more information ❤️

Ali and Kyle Passow were longtime members of the Lynden community and welcomed their two beautiful boys Bronson and Rhett here before moving to their dream house last summer. Rhett was born with a very rare genetic disorder which has required a lot of medical intervention. After spending the 2021 Mother’s Day with Rhett at McMaster Ali started a fundraiser to provide gifts to mothers that are in similar situations. Last year she put together over 100 gift bags and distributed them on both medicine floors, the surgical floor and to the Mother and Baby unit. Inside the bags there were Lush body products, Tim Hortons gift cards, snacks, lip balm and many other little items to make the moms feel seen, supported and spoiled. This year I reached out to Ali to see what we can do from Lynden to help. Her goal this year is to provide even more bags than last year so she can include the NICU, emergency medicine and Ronald McDonald room. At this time we are asking for monetary donations to pass onto Ali to go towards purchasing items for all of the gift bags.

I am so excited to share that we finally have Lynden Lights Woods & Wicks in store!

These candles smell like a dream, they are 100% Coconut Soy, and are hand poured right here in Lynden! They burn clean and slow and I’m already obsessed.

ONE WHOLE YEAR!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much. I feel so blessed to be able to serve this community and I’m so thankful you’ve welcomed me into it.

None of this would have been possible without my family and friends. The hours and hours of free labour (read: labour hours exchanged for beer), and the support from all of them brings me near tears thinking about it.

Most importantly, my staff! I cannot get over how great all the ladies on my team are. They all work so hard and treat this store as their own. I could not do this without all of you.

Cheers to one year! Can’t wait to keep it going. ❤️

We here at the Lynden General Store are having quite an emotional day!

Both Steph and Emily are working their final shifts here. These two ladies have been so instrumental in our first year. Always smiling, kind, helpful and super popular with our customers. I can’t say enough good things about them.

Steph is moving to Guelph and starting a new job tomorrow.
Emily has started working full time in tiling since completing her construction program at Conestoga College!

I wish you both all the best and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time at the store. ❤️❤️❤️

Let’s talk New Years Eve!

How crazy is it that we’re already at the end of 2021?! In some ways it felt like the longest year ever but at the same time feels like it just started yesterday!

I am looking so forward to spending my 2022 with all of you!

BREWERY SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK!

Today starts week four of our brewery spotlight where we highlight phenomenal beers that we carry in store!

This week it’s all about !

As most of you know I am from Guelph and that probably already makes me a little biased. But the part that makes me completely biased is that in a past career as an exterminator the company I worked for did all of the pest control for the brewery. So I know how clean and wonderful their facility is!

Wellington Brewery is Canada's oldest independently owned microbrewery. Based in Guelph, Ontario, we craft our award-winning beers in small batches using the freshest all-natural ingredients. Since 1985, we've been a pioneer in the craft brewing scene by producing timeless, traditional style ales as well as experimenting with new recipes as part of our Welly One-Off Series.

As an independent and locally owned brewery, we take pride in being an active member of the community, taking part in countless events and supporting charitable causes. We believe that beer is best when it’s fresh and made in our community.

Wellington Brewery was part of the first wave of Ontario microbreweries. We envisioned a brewery that would produce English style Real Ales (also known as Cask Conditioned Beer). These cask-conditioned beers are unfiltered, naturally carbonated and served at cellar temperature. Wellington Brewery was one of the first modern brewers in North America to produce traditional cask-conditioned beers which have become increasingly popular in the last decade.
 
Our original recipes aimed to match the world renowned flavour and character of traditional English style ales. To ensure that the beer matched the style, the original brew house and equipment was shipped from England to Guelph, Ontario. Many of these original recipes remain in our core brand lineup to this day including Special Pale Ale, County Brown Ale, and Arkell Best Bitter.

In store we have the perfect 6-pack which is the Boutique Mixer. Additionally we carry the Upside IPA and the Special Pale Ale in single cans!

With the holidays so quickly approaching let’s talk about what’s happening here!

Starting today until December 20 we are holding a toiletry drive for our local food bank! Shower items, razors, body lotion, feminine hygiene products, diapers, toilet paper, paper towels and anything else that fits the category! Each time you donate items you will receive a huge thank you from us and a ballot to guess how many candy canes are in the jar!

If you know of or are a family struggling this holiday season please reach out to me, I believe everyone (especially kids) should have something to open on Christmas Day and with the team I have here we’d be happy to help. (Everyone’s privacy will be protected and kept anonymous)

BREWERY SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK!

Today starts week three (quite delayed, I know) of our brewery spotlight where we highlight phenomenal beers that we carry in store!

This week it’s all about !

For 10 years, Lake of Bays Brewing Company has been a mainstay of the Ontario craft beer scene. The brewery started as an idea by our president and founder, Darren Smith, in his university apartment. At the young age of 23, his dream became a reality, as patrons from around the area gathered to witness LB’s official ribbon cutting in May 2010.
Since then, our beer lineup has broadened to include everything from light lager to double IPA to stout, and we’re always experimenting with more styles and new flavours to bring to our fans. Our brewery has continued to grow over the years and now employs over 50 people.

In store right now we carry tons of products from Lake of Bays; Switchback Pilsner, Starboard New England IPA, Off the Grid Hazy Pale Ale, Spark House Red Ale and the Stand Down IPA!

My suggestion for you if you haven’t tried their amazing beers yet would be to get the limited edition holiday ‘Tasty Toes’ gift pack! Perfect for you or a beer lover in your life there’s five beers and a fuzzy pair of socks! 🧦🧦

Collective Arts Brewing is a grassroots craft brewery and distillery that aims to fuse the creativity of craft beer, cider and spirits with the inspired talents of emerging artists and musicians. Collective Arts was founded in 2013 on the belief that creativity fuels creativity. We strive to push the boundaries when it comes to brewing and distilling; creativity, quality, and our relationships with our artists are at the core of what we do. Collective Arts is unique in that we feature rotating limited-edition works of art on our packaging, creating new social experiences for drinkers to connect with artists from around the world.

We carry three beers from Collective Arts, Life in the Clouds (a New England ipa), Ransack the Universe (ipa) and Hazy State (session ipa)!

Today starts our weekly brewery spotlight where we highlight phenomenal beers that we carry in store!

This week it’s all about !

Beau’s is already a super popular brand here in Lynden and we stock their Fulltime IPA and their flagship Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale.

Some things you might not know:

Father and son Tim and Steve Beauchesne started Beau’s Brewing Co. in 2006.
 
The flagship beer, Lug Tread Lagered Ale, has won more than 20 awards to date.
 
In 2010, Beau’s was the first brewery in the world to collaborate on a beer with a Trappist monastery.
 
Beau’s gave its employees ownership of the business in 2016.
 
Beau’s Brewing has collaborated on beers with several Canadian celebrities including author Margaret Atwood, comedian Tom Green, and hip hop artist k-os.

Also our area sales rep Marybeth is one of the nicest people! She was one of the first reps I spoke with while in the process of taking over the LGS and has been so kind and helpful!
