Costin Motorcycle Engineering Welcome to Costin Motorcycle Engineering (formerly MiCo Products.) Late in 2009 we decided to move into a new factory unit in the Sydney suburb of Ingleburn.

We decided to make this a fresh start so we changed our name to Costin Motorcycle Engineering! We can now make our products quicker and more efficiently. For the past 10 years we have specialised mainly in building 500cc GP replicas using the Yamaha RZ/RD500 engine. We now also build aluminium twin spar frames for the RZ/RD 350/250 series of engines, and have as well designed and built a completel

y new bike using our new 350 frame and a 535cc big bore kit. The new 'Costin 535'. In fact we can build a frame for any type of engine. We are currenlty having our custom extrusions made. We will use this for the majority of our future frames, but will still produce our fabriacted sheet frames if required..

90 & 93 YZR500 swingarms , 98 YZR500 frame and a 1990 OEM restoration…. 98 swingarm will be finished soon and I’ll post that up as well…. Interestingly, 98 frame and swingarm will house an original 90 YZR engine….👍👍

Finally finished the new 1990 Rainey YZR500 replica….
As with all our bikes, fully custom made frame, swingarm and chassis parts. All made to replicate the original bike as close as possible .. fully rebuilt engine with VM34’s, ported cylinders, o ring heads, dry clutch, new cranks, ohlins forks and shock.. as close to the original bike as you can get….
Bike shipped to the USA this week..👍👍

It’s a lot of work making these parts, but it’s the details and accuracy which makes it worthwhile …

lately we have been getting orders to make parts for original YZR500's and NSR500's.
This is a NSR500 frame we just finished for a customer who is lucky enough to own a genuine NSR500 engine.
The tolerances between the engine and frame are very close, especially around the swingarm pivot. It took twice as long to make this frame as it does making our replica frames.
Pretty happy with the way it came out
The tooling for the "H' and the overly complicated shock adjuster just adds to the fun....

Just putting the finishing touches on this Wayne Gardner 1989 NSR500 replica... its based on the bike he raced at Phillip Island that year. This RZ500 engine is putting out 115HP using 34mm Mikuni's, larger dia pipes, HPI Ignition, YZ85 Vforce reeds, O'Ringed head and TZ based dry clutch..
Fully custom frame and swingarm using HRC extrusions in the frame. Original NSR500 tank and seat and slightly modified fairing.
Modified RC51 forks and RS250rGP shock.... Honda 6 spoke wheels.
This bike was also used in the promotion of the Wayne Gardner movie

Sending this 1988 XR74 RGV500 replica to New Zealand tomorrow.... Its a replica of Scwantz's bike he used in the latter part of 1988 when they changed fairings and put both exhausts on the same side. It has original RGV500 fairings, tank, seat, front brakes, shock, silencers, radiator....it uses 34mm round slides with YZ85 Vforce reeds... first dyno run had 105Hp......I reckon we can get to 115HP plus with some more sorting😁😁

Sent this Doohan 1994 NSR500 to the UK today...it has factory NSR forks, billet brembo calipers, RS250 GP shock, NSR500 fairing and structural seat, titanium pipes, carbon/Kevlar silences, Costin frame, swingarm and all chassis parts... hope the new owner likes it!!!

20 months ago I was contracted to build 2 promotional race bikes for the new Wayne Gardner movie. The movie premier was in Melbourne last night....now I can finally put up some pics of the bikes!!! 1989 NSR500 and a 1988 RGV500 (late model) ... WG is such a great bloke...took interest and took the time to ask me questions about the bikes even when the media were hounding him for questions..legend!!!

Finally finished engine for a Doohan NSR...all new cast clutch cover and water pipes, Ducati dry clutch conversion, external pivot power valves and Stan Stephens redesigned 2 into 1 carb manifolds.....starting final build January 👍👍

Im on a bit of a roll here.....
This is the 1994 NSR500. The first pic is the completed frame and swingarm mocked up in an early rolling chassis. The engine has had RZ350 barrels grafted on by Stan Stephens in the UK...The last pic is obviously paint. the build is a bit back to front, normally we do paint at the end, but this bike has taken such a long time to get everything to fit that to speed up the last few months we painted it earlier. Still have to finish the pipes and intakes. Plus the new RGV500 Pepsi Suzuki is almost ready for paint and we didnt want 2 bikes sitting at the painters gathering dust!!!!

Sorry everyone...better late than never. We moved shop down to sunny Wollongong. Took some time off to get the new workshop and our house sorted, as well as getting the kids settled.. My social secretary/web mistress/wife has now got a full time job so all facebook and website stuff has been forgotten about.. I promise to get my finger out and post regular updates. Ive been doing bits here and there but the last year I have been back full time on the bikes again...So heres the finished Rainey bike

been a while since my last post.... we have been moving along slowly with the Rainey bike, finished and shipped another 1998 frame and have almost finished the new NSR500 frame which I will post up here shortly. We have also been collecting parts and restoring a genuine 1993 ROC500. the frame was one of the ROC frames used by Roberts marlboro yamaha in 1993. It was then sent back to ROC and updated to 1994/95 spec and was then used by Fred Protat. The cases are factory magnesium cases and are from Niall McKenzies 1994 Yamaha France's bike.. I will also but pics of the ROC up shortly once its assembled..cheers Mick
