Part of a five-generation Barossa wine family, Ben Radford is an award-winning winemaker at the helm of the celebrated winery Rockford Wines.

Stonegarden is a single vineyard in Eden Valley that was planted 160 years ago - the vineyard has been tended organically for the last decade and the wines are made by Ben Radford who has been in charge at Rockford for 20 years. After bouncing between wine regions around the world, he’s gone back in time to make old school wines using old school equipment, keeping history alive in the Barossa - producing distinctive, down-to-earth and exquisite wines.

The blend of Mourvedre (50%), Grenache & Cinsault has captivated Australia for many years now but still remains very limited! Grown on a mosaic of Clay & limestone soils, this wine invokes the South of France in just one whiff!

The grapes used to make this rosé come from selected parcels where the vines are on average 20 years old. The yields are low, which explains the intense concentration and distinct expression of each varietal in this wine. The presence of Mourvedre gives this wine its strong character, balance and complexity.

Organic perfection from Priorat!
2020 Clos Mogador Priorat - 97 Points

“The 2020 Clos Mogador comes from a very challenging vintage in Priorat, a year with lots of rain and some fungus problems that are very unusual in the zone, which is usually very healthy. They bought a further four hectares so they could keep the volume despite the difficulties with mildew. The wine is more tannic and a little astringent despite now having any time in barrels anymore; starting this year, it matured exclusively in 2,000-liter oak foudre, and the impact of the wood is milder. A very good result, it's powerful but has good balance... 26,000 bottles produced.”Luis Gutiérrez | The Wine Advocate | July 2022

CLOS MOGADOR
Clos Mogador was founded in 1979 by René Barbier. René is a direct descendent of a French line of winemakers whose origins can be traced back to the 1200s. Trained in the most presitgious winemaking schools of Bordeaux & Burgundy, he has also worked in acclaimed wineries such as Moueix, who are amongst other things the makers of Petrus. In 1979, he acquired his first vineyard in Priorat and started to make his first wine in the area: Clos Mogador. A little later on came Nelin & Manyetes.

"Things never stop at Clos Mogador. In 2020, they have bought the vineyard next to the original one that is now a Vi de Vinya Clasificada. Their son Christian leads the team in the vineyards, working with biodynamics and regenerative agriculture to achieve natural balance. The French grape varieties are now playing a less important role (especially in Clos Mogador and Nelin), and they are refocusing on the local grapes. They have some 40 hectares of vineyards in the village of Gratallops and produce around 40,000 bottles."

Nadja and Steve first met when they were studying winemaking at CSU in 2008, before going their separate ways to work and travel overseas. In 2014 the pair reunited in Orange and have been winemaking in the region ever since. In July 2020 they purchased their plot and have been busy tending the vines and making their wines ever since. 2021 was their first harvest and they are eager to show you what they have been doing. With a combined winemaking experience of over 25 years they are certain to have some exciting things to share.

Chateau La Negly 'La Natice' Rose 2019
It is irresistible and fresh with raspberry and peach aromas. It has a pretty silhouette, a pale robe and is aromatic on the mouth. At Chateau de la Negly, vines are planted in clay-limestone soils and the newer acquisition's soil is comprised of sandy loam and sandstone.

Château la Négly is a highly rated Languedoc estate that can trace its roots back to 1773. In 2001, Château started to lease the vineyards of their neighbour estate: Domaine de Boède and finally acquired these vineyards in 2006. Most of their vineyards are located on the prime chalky terroir of La Clape, in sight of the Mediterranean, whose cooling breezes moderate the maturation.

Natice won the gold medal at the last Agricultural General Competition held in Paris. 🍇
