Waratahs are magnificent if you can spot them in the wild. I was lucky to find these a bit past their prime but you can see the beautiful seed that guarantees more flowers in the future. If you want to enjoy Telopea Speciosissima, the NSW state flower all year, for many years, have a look at these designs hand printed by the artist Pam Price here in Sydney. Hi all, the weather is crazy and the birds are singing. Just a reminder for this year's Aussie Backyard Bird Count. It is wonderful to focus- ideally with someone else for 20 minutes to observe the bords in your vicinity. Do it one or many times during the week of 16-22 October, 2023. Last year we were surprised to see a bush turkey about 10 metres up a tree in a park in the inner west of Sydney.

Have you ever seen a frog do yoga? Well here they are! Leaping frogs from Badger's Workshop. His sand animals are used by many therapists as a tactile, calming playthings. We have a great variety. You can use the app or the website. It can be done anywhere anytime. I find the app great all year round if you want to identify birds.

Sydney Harbour is welcoming many more fur seals and sea lions to its rocks and shores in winter. Scientists are trying to figure out why but they know the harbour is much cleaner and commercial fishing has been banned. There is a citizen science project, Wild
Sydney Harbour now studying the ecology of the harbour. The (mostly male) animals are visiting from Montague Island (off the NSW far south coast.)

Once again we have supported the Glebe (NSW) Society with a market stall (donating part of the proceeds.) The speaker presented information on nature surviving and thriving in urban areas and why this is important. Therefore, all products featured native flora or fauna readily found in cities. There were lots of items with: kookaburras, magpies, fairy wrens, cockatoos, rosellas, galahs, owls, possums, native flowers and eucalypts.
