On tasting at Bardwell Park Cellars this afternoon and all weekend! Domaine St Remy Vieilles Vignes 2019 Alsacian Riesling, refined and aromatic and certainly dry; Tindaro Monferrato a Piedmontese wine with firm tannin spine and aromatic notes of plum, nutmeg, clove, and guava- ideal for lasagne; then the most beautiful Cahors Malbec Chateau de Mercues 2014 just ready for steak with bearnaise sauce, potatoes , and green beans. Many of our valued customers (that means all of you!) are currently taking advantage of our Renovation Stocktake sale- bring cash and choose one dozen or more wines (except bubbles and under $15 wines)- and save twenty percent on the total price! What a wonderful way to have some wine on hand for the changing seasons and temperatures.

One more thing- when you come to the shop, you will see that we have reduced the price of many spirits contrary to the rise in prices suggested by the CPI. Just another way we are keeping life interesting!

Happy Father's Day out there to all you dads, granddads, uncles, godfathers and assorted patriarchs. We honour you today. It's been busy all week at Bardwell Park Cellars so I think many of you have received a nice bottle of something as part of today's festival. In case you have left it to the eleventh hour to honour someone in your family, we have a fine and extensive selection of malt whiskies, bourbons, Tasmanian Lark whisky, other spirits, and fine wines at all prices. Beers too! You can pop in today until 7pm and select something worthy of your special fellow.

Mother, I cannot talk with you now and know exactly what you would say to me. But I see you in a thousand lovely things each day, the things you admired and praised when you walked past them with a smile on your lips. The roses, lavender, hibisci, the sounds of the birds in the trees. Your favourite scents, particularly Jean Patou and Chanel Number Five. I can't forget all the support and care you gave me, especially when I was immature and discouraged about a heap of things that all seem trivial today.

But there is one thing in particular I know you would always appreciate on Mother's Day, as on many days of the year. A glass of French wine, particularly Bordeaux or Burgundy. You loved its colour, its fragrance, its balance, and above all its velvet smoothness. To those of you whose mothers are still with you, choose a wine of high quality to open tomorrow , hand the glass to your mother, and pray that you will have many occasions on which to sip such a wine with the greatest lady in your life. Happy Mother's Day!

We wish you Happy Easter, everybody! Feast and enjoy this great day of the Western Calendar. Bardwell Park Cellars is open today until 7pm like every Sunday, with Chardonnays and Rieslings for seafood, Bordeaux and other Cabernet blends and straight variety wines for lamb and other meats, sweet white wines and whisky for chocolate lovers, and a great range of beers local and imported for everyone on barbeque duty. Tomrrow and Tuesday we are open as per normal hours, 11am to 9pm. See you soon, enjoy some time off together with family and friends!

Is there a chance that we shall have a normal autumn? You never know! After all the rain that has caused mayhem across the East Coast of Australia, and damaged vines just on harvest, we must hope that as much can be salvaged as possible. No year is ever perfect, no agricultural conditions without disappointment. But the vintages are never identical, and it is part of the fun to taste many different wines from different years, and think respectfully of all the hard work that was necessary to sn**ch the grapes at the right time and bring them into the winery to make beautiful wine. The cooler days we are now experiencing, bring us the chance to open some reds and eat some comfort food for cooler weather; pies, casseroles, grilled meats, risotto , fondue. Light to medium fruity reds with character and harmony- pinot noir, gamay, grenache, GSM blends, Chianti are all good at the moment. We pay tribute to all the "Vignerons Independents" the small boutique wineries of Europe and Australia, who bring us so much variety and quality even when they are exhausted and spent from superhuman labour.

It's almost December; and we are expecting that this cool weather and flooding which brings mixed benefits to the land in Australia, will go its way soon to bring some fine weather, but in December in Alsace the good friends of the vineyards band together to pick the last of the shrivelled grapes of the year's crop to make the dessert wines known as grains nobles or pourriture noble .

A few of these bottles, together with the less intense but delectable table wines, are on our list for you to select as Christmas gifts. We do hope you will call in to see us soon and discuss your requirements for the Great Feast of the Nativity, which will lift our hearts and make us happy no matter what has occurred thus year.

We shall be open everyrday now except Christmas Day itself starting at 11am and closing at 9pm except Sundays which finish at 7pm. I can say we have the best selection that has ever been in store, of beers, wines, and spirits expectially whisky and gin and liqueurs.

Good evening , Facebook supporters, thank you for bearing with us as we keep the shop on an even keel now we are out of lockdown in Sydney.

You may already be thinking what to be getting as gifts fo you family and friends. We have many exciting suggestions. Come and have a chat to us, see what we can recommend for your Christmas dinner and your gift giving. It could be a craft bottle of gin, a whisky from Speyside, a fancy liqueur from France or other part of Europe, or a case of beers for the brew-lover in your household, and one for Santa by the mantlepiece. With Autumn now here, and Lent of course, we may be browsing the recipe books to see what we should be eating. More vegetables, fish, and tofu and nuts may be gathering in your kitchen and pantry.

To keep you company, no matter what your state of mind or spiritual leanings, we have harnessed the very successful mystery dozen idea of 2020 and created an Autumn Dozen. Each wine in the Dozen has a food pairing suggestion with it. $240 worth of wine (6 R+ 6W; or 5 R+ 1 Rose +6W ; or all R or all W) for $199 cash pick up at the shop. Quality wines throughout. You may wish to order a repeat dozen for Easter weekend itself!

Among the selections , the Viognier from the Southern Tablelands near Goulburn/Marulan, and the Cardinalices from the Cotes du Rhone, and the Fleur d'Eleonore from Caves de Monsegur, Bordeaux region. While travel to many of the world's vineyards may seem an impossible dream at the moment, we can sip these beauties and look forward to the resumption of exploration!

This week Bardwell Park Cellars celebrates its sixth birthday. Thank you so much to European exporters, shipping agents, wineries here, and above all to you our valued customers. We’ve tried to create a model independent neighbourhood liquor store with excellent friendly service, free delivery Sydney wide and a splendid selection of your favourite beers, ciders, spirits-now well over one hundred and twenty whiskies, a growing number of gins and other spirits and liqueurs- plus non-alcoholic drinks, together with our exclusive range of 800+ wines from Europe, many made by traditional family vineyards. A fair number of these wines are organic, vegan, bio dynamic and / low sulphur, low or no pesticide.

Our regular tastings and seminars to introduce beginners of all ages to the love of wine will start again as soon as all medical restrictions on public consumption have been lifted. New wines just arrived from France and Italy! Plenty of new Australian wine! Come and see us soon!
