On tasting at Bardwell Park Cellars this afternoon and all weekend! Domaine St Remy Vieilles Vignes 2019 Alsacian Riesling, refined and aromatic and certainly dry; Tindaro Monferrato a Piedmontese wine with firm tannin spine and aromatic notes of plum, nutmeg, clove, and guava- ideal for lasagne; then the most beautiful Cahors Malbec Chateau de Mercues 2014 just ready for steak with bearnaise sauce, potatoes , and green beans. Many of our valued customers (that means all of you!) are currently taking advantage of our Renovation Stocktake sale- bring cash and choose one dozen or more wines (except bubbles and under $15 wines)- and save twenty percent on the total price! What a wonderful way to have some wine on hand for the changing seasons and temperatures.

One more thing- when you come to the shop, you will see that we have reduced the price of many spirits contrary to the rise in prices suggested by the CPI. Just another way we are keeping life interesting!

Among our very favourite Christmas gifts we recommend to our clients is the
Louis Quinze Champagne. This superb Champagne is clad in a plush  box which
celebrates the decree of King Louis XV authorising the sale of champagne in
bottles! This was the Golden Age of France in music and all the arts, no
place more central nor celestial than the new palace of Versailles.

By the time Monsieur de Venoge opened his Champagne house in 1837, France
had gone through several revolutions and constitutional somersaults. But it
had come back to its civilised ways and was very ready to welcome a new
entrepreneur in the form of Venoge, a Swiss born businessmen of great acumen
and style.

We are sure you will love this presentation and the Champagne inside for
your Christmas table. We are open until 9pm on Christmas Eve, closed
Christmas Day and open again at 11am Boxing Day. Blessed Advent and Merry

Happy Father's Day out there to all you dads, granddads, uncles, godfathers and assorted patriarchs. We honour you today. It's been busy all week at Bardwell Park Cellars so I think many of you have received a nice bottle of something as part of today's festival. In case you have left it to the eleventh hour to honour someone in your family, we have a fine and extensive selection of malt whiskies, bourbons, Tasmanian Lark whisky, other spirits, and fine wines at all prices. Beers too! You can pop in today until 7pm and select something worthy of your special fellow.

Congratulations to Her Majesty the Queen on the commemoration of her Coronation on 2nd June 1953 in her Platinum Jubilee Year.

We have a little celebration ourselves on a modest scale. Eight years ago today, we came into possession of Bardwell Park Cellars. It has been a lot of very hard work, no two days alike, but many exciting times and a great sense of satisfaction in bringing you fine wines, spirits, and beers at fair prices , and helping many community groups. Mother, I cannot talk with you now and know exactly what you would say to me. But I see you in a thousand lovely things each day, the things you admired and praised when you walked past them with a smile on your lips. The roses, lavender, hibisci, the sounds of the birds in the trees. Your favourite scents, particularly Jean Patou and Chanel Number Five. I can't forget all the support and care you gave me, especially when I was immature and discouraged about a heap of things that all seem trivial today.

But there is one thing in particular I know you would always appreciate on Mother's Day, as on many days of the year. A glass of French wine, particularly Bordeaux or Burgundy. You loved its colour, its fragrance, its balance, and above all its velvet smoothness. To those of you whose mothers are still with you, choose a wine of high quality to open tomorrow , hand the glass to your mother, and pray that you will have many occasions on which to sip such a wine with the greatest lady in your life. Happy Mother's Day!

We wish you Happy Easter, everybody! Feast and enjoy this great day of the Western Calendar. Bardwell Park Cellars is open today until 7pm like every Sunday, with Chardonnays and Rieslings for seafood, Bordeaux and other Cabernet blends and straight variety wines for lamb and other meats, sweet white wines and whisky for chocolate lovers, and a great range of beers local and imported for everyone on barbeque duty. We are open every day except Good Friday, yes we are even open Easter Day (Sunday) until 6pm.
