Sweeten your friendship 🍯 GIVEAWAY TIME!

Did you know that bees mostly communicate in the dark of the hive by dancing? Known as the waggle dance, bees dance around in a circle to tell others where food is or the potential location of a new home. 🏠

This reminds us a lot of partying in the dark with friends. Most of us can remember good times, dancing the night away and then a friend gets hungry or wants to go elsewhere and suggests to move on.

If only we could communicate as well as bees could through dance! Instead we opt with yelling at each other over the loud music or texting each other to talk! 😅

Bees all across the world are some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. linked by family to ants and wasps, other very social creatures. However in Australia we have 1700+ species of bees that are solitary! 🤯

This means that the bees travel either solo or in very small groups! Obviously very different to the common European Honey Bee (Apis Mellifera) that we've all come to know and love.

When it comes to honey, we go mad for it! Not only is it our main ingredient, it is also an amazing little creation that humans have been addicted to since the dawn of time. 🍯

The honey we use is farmed right here in Australia, artfully comprised with a variety of different flavours of Australian native flora. 🌿

But did you know that honey takes on different flavours based on the nectar the bees collect and how long the bees ferment it for?

Most Australian honey has a mild Eucalyptus taste, but there is a wide variety of other flavours available. From fruity Orange Blossom, with heady aromas of fragrant citrus flavours. To impactful Banksia honey, with deep caramel tones.

Fresh out the hive! Just like our Lucidian Gold Mead!

This girl will go ahead and pollinate up to 5000 flowers per day. A seemingly impossibly task for any other animal or insect on the planet. But here they are! Our fuzzy saviours ready to help us with the food we grow, as we help them by cultivating more and more flowers and plants for them to pollinate!

Beekeeping is one of the oldest jobs ever recorded. I can see why people were fascinated with these girls for so long. It's a pleasure to continue the legacy, and a pleasure to share with you a drink these bees make possible.

During these lockdowns going on all over the world and Australia. This is the time to go inside and reflect on what we want most. For us we wanted to be more connected with nature, and of course found a new passion in beekeeping. 🐝

Now, forever we have a place in our hearts for our beautiful honey bees at home. Forging memories in our first bit of honey! Our first time seeing the queen, and of course... our first stings! Blood, sweat, tears and passion brought today our very own Lucidian Gold Mead. An alcohol inspired by the bees and inspired by nature. We want to help the bees and our home of Australia.

Stay tuned for our projects and initiatives! You'll play a very important part in where we put our money for projects, start ups and charities supporting our home. ✨

Currently our community is choosing between FAME and EarthWatch Australia. From the date we launch to the three month mark we will be supporting the one that you choose.

FAME was established in 1993 with a sole focus on maintaining and preserving Australia's native flora and fauna. They focus on species that are most at risk of extinction, from Saving the Tassie Devil to Guarding Paradise - ensuring the protection, monitoring & habitat restoration of species on Lord Howe Island. 🌿

If selected we will be donating to their 'Where the need is greatest' campaign.

EarthWatch Australia has an ever-expanding list of initiatives. Their main goal is to create a society that lives in balance with nature by empowering people to save the natural world. They focus on assisting independent scientific field research and finding ways to combat and keep ahead of climate change. 🌏

If selected we will be donating to their general donations page, helping connect people, science and nature together to create change for the greater good.

Here at Lucidian Gold Mead everyday feels like an adventure. Absolutely can't wait to bring everyone our sweet pride and joy and get to meet everyone with every delivery!
And our bees can't wait either! Hanging on their edge of their frame in complete suspense!!

Photos like this still take me by surprise and utter awe! The absolute beauty and chaos within the hive. Reminds us of our day to day lives. 🐝 😎

Unlike other meads, ours is sweet like a dessert wine. Perfect for mixing and experimenting with. Or for the sweet tooths, on it's own is delectable. ✨

To make our mead last longer in your cup, add ice, tonic water and your favourite citrus juice (lemon or lime.) Remind yourself of those cool rainy nights where you'd snuggle up with a honey lemon tea. ☕️

Old world alcohol included some truly remarkable drinks. All starting originally from some residue in pottery jars, found in northern China that date from 7000 to 6600 B.C. 🏺

From beers to wines, many different cultures developed their own versions of alcohol. Some being very similar to one another and others being drastically different, based on the ingredients used.

Mead was one of the original drinks that many across the globe could make. Because all it really needed was honey, water and yeast. 🌿

Here at Lucidian Gold, we have reinvented how we create and consume mead. Basing our recipe off of old traditions and recreating it with a new method.

Hi there! Tash and Tom here. We are the Founders of Lucidian Gold Mead. Our story starts unlike many others. It didn't start with some crazy adventure or soul searching. It actually started in the midst of Melbourne's lockdown. 🤯

We had become bored of the inside world and grew ever fond of the mystical outside. What initially started out as an interest, quickly turned into a hobby. Beekeeping! 🐝

Our love for bees and honey grew quickly. Before we knew it we were trying every honey recipe in the book! One night while attempting a brew of mead, we came across a recipe that was absolutely divine! ⚡️

And on that night, Lucidian Gold Mead was born. ✨

We are proud to say that we are an Australian business, with a focus of utilising and supporting other Australian companies. We take time to consider the products we use in relation to the production of our mead. Our mead is crafted in small batches with Australian ingredients and our packaging has several eco-friendly benefits. We are currently working on sourcing 100% Australian packaging and we will let you know when we reach this exciting target!! 🎯🎯🎯
