In just under two weeks, I’ll be hosting a once-in-a-lifetime dinner with the good folk . Guests will be able to drink some incredibly rare wines from the Jura - all from magnum. The dinner is limited to 12 people to ensure that every guest receives a generous glass or two of each wine - I believe it is important to be able to watch each wine evolve over the evening, allowing them to reveal their nuances and complexities. It’s also a nice way to respect each vigneron and the time, hard work and passion that has gone into producing each wine.

Ali Currey-Voumard (ex Agrarian kitchen, Public wine shop and A Table pop-up - and now Bar Merenada!) will be cooking a special Jura feast on the evening to accompany the wines. Think soulful cooking with local organic, seasonal produce. It’s going to be delicious!

The wines:

2014 Jean-François Ganevat Côtes du Jura ‘Cuvée Marguerite’ (Melon à Queue Rouge)

2012 Domaine des Murmures VDF (Savagnin)

2019 Nicolas Jacob Côtes du Jura ‘Les Chazaux’ (Savagnin)

2019 Domaine de la Touraize Arbois ‘Ammonites’ (Chardonnay)

2020 Domaine de la Touraize Arbois ‘La Cabane’ (Ploussard)

2020 Renaud Bruyère et Adeline Houillon Arbois Pupillin ‘En Aspis’ (Ploussard)

2019 Jean-François Ganevat Côtes du Jura ‘Plein Sud’ (Trousseau)

2016 Domaine Bornard Arbois Pupillin ‘Le Ginglet’ (Trousseau)

Guests will also receive a complimentary glass of 2020 Domaine de la Touraize Crémant du Jura on arrival.

I can’t wait to open and share these with you all - this is potentially the only time a dinner with all of these magnums combined will occur anywhere in the world. My travels and passion for locating such magnums has taken years of dedication and persistence, and I have wanted to do this dinner for a long time. It’s not to be missed - I look forward to seeing you all there!

Tickets via the link in my bio.

Monday 29 April, 6:30pm
Lots of well-priced accommodation options available in Daylesford at the moment too.

Check out this exciting new selection from !

Quickly becoming one of the most revered domaines in the Jura, AJ and Héléana Morin make a wonderful range of high quality wines that showcase the heights the region can reach. Based in Arbois, their vineyards have biodynamic certification, and their newly renovated cellar allows them to produce wines of elegance, purity and typicité.

Fun fact: AJ is an 8th generation grower - his family have been making wines in Arbois since 1704!

This Crémant has all the class of a fine Champagne. These whites are all made in the ouillé style (topped up), so are pure and fresh with beautiful acidity. And the reds are pretty and delectable, with fine structure and detail. Almost too easy to drink!

I love releasing these wines each year - some of my favourites and without a doubt some of the best to come out of the region. Offer went out to the trade yesterday - get in touch to secure some!

The first release of the 2022’s from is here and ready to go!

High quality, vibrant Burgundy and Coteaux Bourguignons - oh, and a sparkling to die for!

Majority of these grapes come from the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Being at a higher altitude means slightly later ripening, and the grapes retain a lot of freshness and acidity thanks to the cool nights and limestone plateau. The whites are lively and mouthwatering, and the reds are bright and perfumed. Organic grapes coupled with tidy winemaking make these an essential set of wines to have on your radar. And accessible pricing means they can reach a wider audience - which is what wine should be about!

Offer out to the trade this morning. 2022 was a great all-round vintage, and the wines really are superb. Get in touch if you’re interested.

A few of the more premium cuvées from .wine including for the first time, their Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru. An exceptional wine that is still a baby, but promises greatness with more cellar time. Paul & W***y’s growth and evolution has been remarkable, quietly producing an outstanding range that just gets better every year. The Saint-Romain is one of my favourites each release, thanks to its freshness, gentle texture and zesty lime notes. 2020 perhaps their best yet. And the perfumes on these reds are to die for - each with their distinct identities defined by site - allowed to shine thanks to gentle and careful winemaking practices. You won’t find oak here - just bright fruit, salt and sweet spice. Complex and layered, these are seductive wines that are already drinking beautifully.

Very small quantities have been allocated across Australia - and there are still a handful of bottles up for grabs for those so inclined…

Earlier this week saw the release of these three beauties from .grange.aux.belles

Coup de Boule - a Gamay pét-nat. Fun, fresh, crisp and dry. Perfect for apéro on a hot sunny day. And then two gorgeous expressions of Chenin - Fragile is the ultimate crowd pleaser with its fleshy fruit and mouthwatering acidity. And La Roche de Mûrs is slightly more refined and detailed, offering a snapshot of what is capable from this incredible site. If you love Chenin, this is a must-have.

All from 2021 vintage which was smaller than usual thanks to frosts and cooler weather. However, the wines are slightly more chiseled and focused than 2020, and make for wonderful summer drinking. Get in touch for more details: [email protected]

New release from Bodega Clandestina!

The 2021s are here and wow, are they good!
Flying under the radar (for now), Ferran Lacruz Bosch is crafting some of the most exciting wines to come out of Penedès. Preferring to be excluded from the DO and go against the grain of the mass-produced wines of the region, he loves to zone in on specific vineyards, multiple harvests for various levels of maturity, different durations of skin contact, and an array of ageing vessels - all to create unique, delectable wines that showcase the potential of the region as a whole.

Thoughtful farming and winemaking leads to wines of precision, impeccable balance and finesse. There is amazing restraint in each wine, and as far as skin contact goes, they are all about subtleties rather than flamboyance. The skins are there to add gentle structure and texture, and gracefully elevate each wine. They are complex, yet refined, with a beautiful saline finish.

Freshness, sea, sun, salt. Summer is calling! I love drinking these and they’re currently some of the favourites in my portfolio (don’t tell the French 👀).

Offer out to the trade this morning. Get in touch for details.

A little Spring selection of white Burgundy from Paul and W***y at .wine

Three 2021’s which are from a cooler vintage, producing refreshing wines that are going to be perfect for our Australian Spring and Summer. And a 2020 which has had 30 months élevage - a little experiment with grapes from the Mâcon - inspired by the wines of Maison Valette.

Offer out to the trade this morning. Lower quantities in 21 due to frosts and rain, so not as much to go around. Jump on them if you like new age Burgundy with a breath of fresh air, especially after all the warm vintages these last few years.

New release from ! 🍷

2021 was the second official vintage from this magical domaine. Based in Lantignié, Sylvie and Thierry and their young family are doing wonderful things to reinvigorate the appellation, creating unique and exciting wines that have quickly generated worldwide interest and demand.

As you drive through Beaujolais, you can’t help notice the chemical imprint of scorched, dead earth and lifeless vines that plague the landscape. It’s terrible and would surely convert any conventional drinker immediately. Sylvie and Thierry however, farm and work in stark contrast to this, with an abundance of life and biodiversity around them. Wild vines, herbs, flowers, plants, fruit and nut trees, grazing sheep, chickens and beautiful vegetable gardens grace their land. It’s a place of natural harmony and vitality that translates directly into the type of wines they make. My photos of Autumn last year don’t do it justice, but if you have been following their journey and stories, you would have seen the beauty and wonder that they have created. It’s a magical place.

Forget your boring day to day Beaujolais - these are vibrant wines full of energy and pizzaz that are like nothing else from the region!

Joujou and May Ga are back, albeit in a slightly lighter style thanks to the cool vintage. Plus a new wine - Ousìa - with direct press Chardonnay and Gamay, plus a little macerated Chardonnay too! It’s so good! As we hit Spring time in Australia, these need to be in your line of sight and in your glass!

Offer just emailed out to the trade. Get in touch if you’re keen or curious! 😊

Please join me this Saturday for a free public tasting at 1533 Cellars in Glen Iris.

I’ll be showing five wines from Domaine de la Touraize - all from the brilliant 2020 vintage, except for the Ploussard which is from 2021 - which is maybe a better year for Ploussard!

This will be your last chance to taste and purchase these wines as are they are almost sold out. It’s my favourite release to date, and it’s your opportunity to see why this domaine easily stands alongside some of the greatest in the Jura. It will be fun, relaxed and informative - the family has an amazing history and have been growing grapes and making wine in Arbois for 8 generations, since 1704!

1533 Cellars
1533 High street, Glen Iris VIC 3146
Sat 12 August
1-4pm

Big thanks to and for hosting!

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Grower Champagne from Chamery’s finest 🍾

Another wonderful release today from Champagne Bonnet-Ponson. 6th generation grower Cyril Bonnet crafts a variety of styles from his certified organic vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. These particular beauties are all made with Premier Cru fruit, and are to die for!

For the first time in Australia we have Cuvée Perpétuelle - a stunning solera style Champagne. There are the NV and vintage Seconde Nature which are world class. And one of the best Coteaux Champenois I have tasted, the Chamery Blanc. This is truly electric and will knock your socks off! Feels like Jura crossed with Chablis struck by lightning!

Offer just sent out to the trade - get in quick! 🥂

Introducing for the first time in Australia, La Chaume des Lies!

La Chaume des Lies is a new domaine, created in 2021 by Margaux Rivaux and Lothar Galloo.

This lovely, smiley couple met in 2018 at Maison en Belles Lies, where they worked for Pierre Fenals. Margaux had studied and worked in wine before, and had been working with Pierre and learning about biodynamics since 2016. Lothar had studied wine, as well as learnt how to grow vegetables, cereals and plants through his parents, who are organic farmers. He also did internships with Bruno Schueller in Alsace, and with Didier Barral in the Languedoc. Finally with all this experience, they decided it was time to take the plunge and start their own project.

They now have 2.5ha of parcels across Saint-Aubin, Auxey-Duresses, Bouzeron and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, as well as 2ha in Beaujolais. Farming all parcels themselves without the use of herbicides or pesticides, they practice biodynamics, making preparations with friends Dominique Derain and David Didon.

They have really hit the ground running with their first vintage - in this cooler year, the wines are super fresh and vibrant. I have small quantities of Bourgogne Aligoté, Bouzeron and Auxey-Duresses available. Next year for the 2022’s, we will see some Saint-Aubin, Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Coteaux Bourguignons as well.

Offer emailed out to the trade this morning. Please get in touch if you’re interested - these will make a great addition to any wine list!
