Welcome to another episode of ‘What’s Dan Drinking?’
The roots of the Schneider family can be traced back to 1465 in Weil an Rhein. However, in 1892, Johannes bought the estate and thus laid the foundation stone for today’s winery.
Since 2017, the sixth generation with Johannes and Christoph Schneider has been responsible for managing the 15ha estate.
The grapes come from a privileged historical steep slope in the village of WEIL AM RHEIN with very lime-rich, loamy soils. The climate is characterized by cool continental with great exposure to sunshine. Selective premium fruit sorted by hand. Fermentation of the grapes with the winery’s own yeasts, three weeks of mashing time, ageing, and maturation in oak barrels (2000l) for 18 months, unfiltered.
This results in a wonderfully juicy, multi-layered, powerful as Spätburgunder! As good as it gets!!! 🍷: @weingutschneider.weilerschlipf #alwayspinot #alwaysspätburgunder
