A Weller Full Proof Single Barrel, the first for Australia, releasing on the 7th of August. Tomorrow we are pre releasing a very small allocation of our Single Barrel to join our Barrel & Batch Up on the 7th of August.

This single barrel is unmistakably Weller Full Proof, the selection of this barrel was made with that in mind. Weller Full Proof to its core, but turning up the volume of all components like only a single barrel can - The Weller Full Proof bourbon classic tasting notes: a nose full of vanilla, dark cherries, and caramel. After several years in the making, we are truly excited to release the first ever Corazon Single barrel into Australia for you to enjoy.

We’ve named this tequila “Turkish Delight,” reminiscent of that Cadbury chocolate bar wrapped in pink. The tasting notes say it all: on the nose, you’ll get rose water and lychees, with the classic Eagle Rare cherry flavour adding a touch of magic to this aged agave spirit. This Tequila was aged in our very first Eagle Rare barrel once emptied.

What’s more, with this Tequila you’ll receive 4 entry tickets into our BTAC 2023 giveaway, set to draw on August the 7th.

As for the Buffalo Trace Single Barrel #6 The Last Hurrah, on the nose, you’ll find aromas of caramel, cinnamon, clove and toffee, with hints of butterscotch, brown sugar, and a touch of freshly cut grass. On the palate, it offers flavours of marmalade, vanilla cream, fresh citrus, and caramelised sugars. It’s thick, sweet, and irresistibly moreish. The finish is smooth with notes of melted butter, white chocolate, maraschino cherry, and a hint of spice.

Buffalo Trace Distillery, the most awarded distillery in the world, is a legend among bourbon lovers. It’s the busiest bottle shop in Kentucky, where fans flock daily for allocations, only to be put on a waiting list for another month. Here in Australia, we’re fortunate to have a steady supply, as the flagship Buffalo Trace bottle is hard to find even in the distillery’s hometown. Every October, BTD releases their highly sought-after Antique Collection, and six months later, we see them trickle onto our shelves. The dream is to find the whole family: George T. Stagg, Sazerac 18, William Larue Weller, Eagle Rare 17, and Thomas H. Handy.

2023 is the gift that keeps on giving. Across the board, our Victorian growers have turned out some of their most exciting wines to date, and Barney Flanders is no different. “It’s some of the most intense fruit I’ve ever seen,” he told us. “There’s so much vitality and energy in these wines.” It was another long, cool, and even season in Mornington, and while yields were very modest, the quality of the Terre fruit (make that the Merricks fruit writ large) is off the scale.

The Le Stagiaire Chardonnay, often referred to as the best value Chardonnay in Australia, continually punches well above its weight, and Barney is committed to offering this level of value to his customers. The Merricks is a knockout: punchy, pure, intensely flavoured, and wildly delicious. Then the Maritime: it is all salt spray and samphire, a little bit smoky and reductive, pear and lime, some jasmine, and spiced pasty dough (95 points).

NEW WINE RELEASE 🍷

There are fewer names in the Australian wine scene more iconic than By Farr. The evolution of the wines now being made at Wine by Farr are more detailed and elegant than ever before, not only due to the individual vineyard sites expression and mother nature’s seasons, but also in the attitude of where Nick is in his own life. Life is hectic, but settled, juggling children’s sporting commitments every day, but coming home to grassroots and campfires, joys of farm life and laughter as a family.

The mid year release of the Farr Rising & Irrewarra collection, is always high on the list.

It comes a little later than usually, but it really is worth the wait. That extra time sitting in bottle has allowed the wine to settle. Drinking incredibly well & will no doubt reward cellaring.

Pierre-Yves Colin is the oldest son of St. Aubin’s Marc Colin, and is married to Caroline Morey of Chassagne’s prominent Morey family. In 2001 he started a negociant business under the name Colin-Morey before leaving his family estate to form what today is known as PYCM/Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey.

It goes without saying the Colin Morey & his Caroline produce some of the most coveted Chardonnay’s in Burgundy & the world. Their wines grow in popularity year after year. Pair that with the tiny quantities of the 2021 vintage and these bottles are some of the rarest in the country. The quality is unquestionable and stylistically so distinctive... We have been lucky enough to secure a dozen bottles of 4 Cuvees from Saint Aubin & Chassagne Montrachet... Plus a tiny parcel of Caroline’s stunning Prem Cru Chassange. These won’t be around for long!

Phillip Jones handcrafted tiny quantities of superlative pinot noir which, at its best, had no equal in Australia. Painstaking site selection, ultra-close vine spacing and the very cool climate of South Gippsland are the keys to the magic of Bass Phillip and its eerily Burgundian pinots. One of Australia’s greatest small producers, it’s been heading down a new path since Jones sold the winery in May ‘20 to a group led by Burgundian winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier (who has known Jones for 14 years).

We’re excited to be able to offer you the best of both worlds, with some 2018 Premium made by Phillip himself. Plus some of the new release 2021 estate lead by Jean Fourrier. Extremely limited quantities, be quick.

We recently hosted an all-day event at Firedoor to officially launch our 10-year-old single cask of Highland Park. This exceptional release, boasting an impressive 65.3% ABV, includes only 652 bottles distributed through Barrel & Batch. Unlike our previous two casks, which were Sherry bombs and favourites among B&B lovers, this cask offers a more spirit-forward experience with a gentler cask influence. Expect aromas of musk sticks, marshmallows, and violets, with a palate featuring vanilla, smoke, and toasted oak.

The sophisticated Josh Varna guided us through an impressive lineup, including the Highland Park 15-year-old, 18-year-old, Cask Strength #3, and our Single Cask #3, along with the previous release Single Cask #2. The amazing team at Firedoor provided top-notch service from lunch through the evening festivities, with food that fully lived up to its hype.

A big thank you to all the new faces and familiar friends who made the day and night so memorable. Special thanks to Spirits Platform and Maxmedia Lab for organizing such a fantastic event.

This celebration marks the end of our three-part Highland Park Single Cask series from Barrel & Batch, a journey three and a half years in the making. Now, we look forward to the next series!

Two stellar new releases from two of Australia’s best Chardonnay producers.

Top quality vintages seem to be ever more common in Margret river, but ‘21 & ‘22 will be ones to remember for a long time to come. With these ‘21 Art Series from Leeuwin & the ‘22 Estate release from Pierro, two of the jewels in the crown.

Both wines display incredible precision, power, texture and finesse. Everything you want from a top class Chardonnay and they’re both just down right delicious. It’s hard to pick a favourite between the two.
