Yikes what a storm ⛈️ so sorry to our locals we had to close up early last night as we lost power around 7:50pm. How is everyone doing?

Clean-up is continuing across Canberra this morning after severe thunderstorms battered the city and left thousands without power last night.

ACT SES crews were kept busy overnight, as heavy rain and high winds left a trail of destruction.

Evoenergy expects blackouts will continue well into the day, with around 1,300 of the 9,000 initially impacted yet to have their power restored and temperatures forecast to top 37 degrees this afternoon.

A number of roads across the city also remain impacted, with Gungahlin, Kaleen, Lawson, and Belconnen among the worst affected suburbs.
